I've seen a few lessons with some nice tones. But when playing I see I'm not getting the right tone out of my guitar.
http://www2.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-gui...e-intermediate/

On the first page of this lesson you bend the G string. You've get a rocking sound out of it. As if the guitar is shouting tongue.gif.
When I try this, I just hear a bend... can you explain me how you get this screamy sound? (I can simulate this sound a bit if I put my plectrum to the string when I've just picked it. But that's not the way to do it).
Can you explain how to do it, or do I need another preset on my Pod to do this? (I use a Pod X3 Live and Ibanez S series 470 or 320)

Gm Gm/F

E ||--------------------------|--------------------------|
B ||--------------------------|--------------------------|
G ||--------------------------|-------------------<>3--|
D ||--------------------------|--------3----5-----------|
A ||--------1----3br---1-----|--/5------------5--------|
E ||--/3-----------------3----|--------------------------|

The bold one in the picture above is the one I'm strugling with.

Thats a pinch harmonic. You have to sort of turn the pick at an angle and hit the string with your thumb at the right time.

Probably not the most indepth explanation though smile.gif

Edit: Sorry, didnt notice this post was in the Muris section.. hope you and Muris dont mind me answering first smile.gif

No worries Trond,help is always well appreciated! smile.gif

Yeah,that'd be pinch harmonic.
Unfortunately this lesson isn't about pinch harmonics so I haven't explained it
but there are few lessons about it here at GMC,use search engine to locate them.

Here's my quick explanation of it.
An example,hit open D string and then touch it slightly on 12th fret.
You'll get harmonic.
Pinch harmonics work in similar way.
You hit the string with the pick and right after that you touch it with your thumb,side of it.
But one thing is important,those are not 2 movements,just one with two actions inside,
plucking the string and then touching it with the thumb.
It needs some practicing tho but work hard and you'll get to it! smile.gif

Thnxz big time Trond and Muris.
That Pinch Harmonics rocks big time... I'm going to search the forum and video lessons how to do this. Learn it, and go on with your lesson Muris!

Btw Trond I've found your Pinch Harmonics video. I'm trying to figure out how you've placed your thumb on the string... but I will try it again when i'm home again.
