Hi Monica, Hi Kristopher.

I read your comments on the REC.
I decided to continue working on the weak points that you noticed.
I hadn't seen that I had to play C# with the pick at 00:007 and 00:13.
You have already given me a very good score and I should try to make a take a little more fluid with a more suitable tone.

See you soon.

Hi Manu!

You know, I really enjoyed your REC take and I think you did an awesome job. smile.gif

The C# is not played with the pick. You understood wrong. I said in the REC that you need to add more strength to your pinky finger when you execute the hammer-on. In this way, the C# will be audible.
You made the hammer-on on C # but it wasn't audible because of two things:
- less power in the pinky finger
- you did not add a stronger accent when you played the slide before C#. The purpose note of the slide (A) should sound clear. Making this note sound more defined will help you keep the hand in a good position for the hammer-on. It will give much more stability to your hand and the C# will sound exactly as awesome as you played it at the beginning of the take (where you don't have the slide before C#).

Hope my explanation will help you. smile.gif

Have a great day!

Hi Monica.

I understood what you said about slides and legato, I'm working on that.
I watched the main video to see how Cosmin was playing. I slowed down to 50%.
The tab show legato but Cosmin plays alternate picking before sweeping.
The C# note is played with the mediator.

Yes, you have perfectly right, on that spot he plays C# with the pick (even if on the tab it's written hammer-on). But when things like this happen, I always recommend to be followed the main video of the lesson.

I was talking about the first C# (0:07 - 0:15 from your take) which is played with hammer-on. We both had a C# in mind. laugh.gif

Hi Monica,

I made a new take today
I used my DVMARK MULTIMAP and shure sm57 mic to record.
It's really much more enjoyable to play on the DVMARK multiamp.

The problem, I can't find a correct tone.
Without the distortion, I lose the high frequency and the sustain.
I lowered the drive as well as the input gain to a minimum but I can't get a cleaner tone.

I know that to reduce the nuisance of distortion, it is necessary to take off the fingers on certain sequences but that is another story. mellow.gif

Hi Manu!

You are right, the tone is not so great. It should be a little cleaner.

Yes, as you said, one of the solutions would be to take off the fingers on certain sequences.

You know, because you already lowered the drive and the input gain to a minimum, it remained just a single thing to try....volume control. smile.gif
It's something that I learned from Darius and on each song we use the volume pot a lot to control the gain. When you feel that some notes are making too much mess, move the volume pot until you find a sweet spot.

About your new take, I can say that I hear huge improvements. You fixed a lot of things, like: a great hammer-on sound, much clearer notes and also the slides are played more in time (not perfectly yet, because you tend to rush a little).
The 5th note from the take (0:03) is played a little delayed and this is a little bothering (mostly because it happened at the beginning of the take).

To be honest, I really like your take. It sounds truly awesome even if the sound is not the same as in the lesson. For me, your performance deserves a 9 grade. smile.gif

Hi Monica

I don't know what to think about these 2 takes

1rst : DVMARK Shure sm57. I don't find good tone

2d : Preset NI guitar rig

Hi Manu!

From the tone point of view, I don't know what to say. Both tones make too much mess. The notes don't sound clear enough.
From my point of view, I see only two solutions:
1. Keep trying to find a better tone. Maybe something that you used in your previous REC takes. Or even try to play this lesson on a different guitar.
Also, you can try to add after amp (of course if you have), Kefir impulse loader and Impulse - Catharsis s-preshigh. I personally used them in Guitar Rig and it improved the tone.

2. You already know this. Practice until you succeed in taking off the finger in the parts where the sound of the notes overlap.

About the playing, be careful because not all the slides are played perfectly from the timing point of view. You still tend to rush a little.

Have a great evening!

Hi Monica

I will continue.
I try to peel off my finger but it's not natural.
We'll see with time, I'm sure I can make a better video.

Haver a nice day.
