I'm considering a new amp. I've read several of the posts regarding amp purchases.
I'm still a bit lost. I need something for practicing at home. I need something that sounds warmer than my
current amp. And one thing that annoys the crap out of me is when I play open chords with distortion they sound like complete crap. I know some will say that's why they use power chords, but there are plenty of songs out there with distortion and open chords and they sound just fine. And if I play a guitar I should be able to play any note or chord in any manner I feel like smile.gif without having to sacrifice quality of sound.

My current lame home amp is a Marshall MG10cd.
Current guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul Studio

On the electric I play alot of things like Dokken, Ratt, Judas Priest, Zakk Wylde, Vai,etc... alot of what some of you would call hair metal. I call it real music smile.gif

Looking for something maybe in the $200-$400 range if that's possible for a decent amp.

So if someone could maybe give me some basic knowledge to start in the right direction I would REALLY appreciate it.

THANKS!!!

Thanks for the reply. Checking it out now. I'm not opposed to spending more. It would just mean waiting a bit longer. Any suggestions on decent tube amps without breaking the bank?

vyper is cool and would be a good choice but here are my recommendations
for $550 I have a real tube amp. ORANGE TINY TERROR. it's amazing. three knobs but im telling you it will not disappoint. It's a humble 15 watt but that's 80% the volume of a 30 watt tube amp just so you know. It takes pedals well so you could set it for medium gain, use your volume knob to clean it up, and grab a nice ibanez tubescreamer or anything nice really to push it over the top. But you'd need a cab if you got the head. combos still great though. send me a msg and ill tell you more smile.gif

OR

id also recommend looking at a multi effects processor like these. They have MANY amp models and effects and the best thing is that you will never be bored again. it seems uncool not having an amps but man, they are soooo fun. really user friendly
