Oh yeah i was going to ask on this subject, should i get a setup done on my new guitar because of it? The only thing is i can't tell if there's a sharp bit or not. I mean i've had a feel around the bridge and there's nothing sharp there. Would a setup be able to fix that if i tell that that i'm having problems with strings snapping? I don't think its my technique as i'm not bending stupidly high i'm bending a whole step and then just applying some vibrato. I really want to get this sorted as it drives me nuts and i'm paying way to much on strings then i should be

This is pretty odd, because I almost never break strings, and I do huge bends, whammy dives and stuff. But everytime I snapped a string it was because I put them on carelessly. I think this is probably your problem, when you put your strings on do they coil nicely around the tuning peg 2 or 3 times? Or is it all scattered and over lapping itself?
If you answered yes to the first question I think you should take it to a tech and get it set up, tell him about your problem and maybe he can figure it out.

I don't wrap them round at all, i used to try and do that, but when it got to the B and E strings i used to have so many attempts at it that i would weaken the string and snap before the were even on! I guess practice huh? I understand that affecting the string at the tuning peg, however this time it snapped at the bridge, surely bad winding wouldn't cause them to snap at the bridge

I'll buy some more strings tommorow and i'll wind them round as you said and see if that makes any difference. I'll see if i can pick up some D'Addarios they seem to be popular among us. If this doesn't do it then i guess i have to bite the bullet and get my guitar setup and tell them what the problems are. If that doesn't do it.... i have no idea

Cool, it couldn't hurt to have them wrapped around a couple times.
