Guitar Battle anyone?
I pretty much got this idea from going into this brazilian website, http://guitarbattle.cifraclub.terra.com.br/ where guitarists like you and me upload their songs and compete with others and I thought "WOW if GMC had this it would be a great way to show our skills."
I know we have our competitions and we get prizes, but this forum does not have to have prizes just recognition.
We also have our uploads forum, but it seems kind of dry, don't you think?
So, How do you win a battle?
Members can vote for a limited amount of time, lets say for a week or two and the one with the most votes win. Then we can see the rankings of who has won the most battles in a month.
It is pretty much a competition but I see this as a way to improve the ways we compose and record our music, (IT MUST BE YOUR ORIGINAL WORK)
Well, obviously we are all learning here in this website and this pretty much gives us a push to improve and see if we can beat some of our GMC instructors wink.gif
So give some feedback, whether you like this idea or not.
Thank You

Cool idea but not my thing. Im not here to battle against or show off my skills to anyone other than myself.
The recognition I'm after is learning.

Besides. I suck. smile.gif

Hm, I would do this. I think guitar is the only thing I've ever been competitive about in my whole life, and I'm still not very competitive about it hahah. Other people are competitive about EVERYTHING.

isnt this similar to the monthly competitions?

i guess it would be on a smaller scale...sounds cool, but i think you dont need an admins approval to do this, just make a thread in the competition forum about guitar battles and find people to "battle" you..

I never thought about that, but if it could be known to everybody though.

Doesnt have to be hard to judge, just vote for whoever sounds better. The rules have to be there of course, like no copyrighted material and no offensive comments

I access this site regularly to look for chords and saw this long time ago.

However, I never thought of that in GMC. Maybe because GMC is much more into "collab style" than "battle style" tongue.gif

Anyway, it could be nice.

They have been doing this for some time. So, I can check their rules and see how we could adapt it.

Hmm i think of GMC more of a place to learn than a place to show off...we have collabs which are awesome as they are IMO- but hey- could work...not trying to rule it out entirely wink.gif

No your right but a little challenge can push us to learn further.
This is only a suggestion I had because there is only like 2 websites that have this guitar battle, but one is Brazilian and the other doesnt look very productive, but if we had one here it can encourage others to join GMC, knowing the fact that so many people want to learn and be challenged to learn.

I've seen this on another guitar site too. And its very successful there.

Competition? Sure.

Healthy? If you are open minded.

Rules? Vote for whomever you like.

The battles can be anything.

"Coolest riff using a I-IV-V progression"

"Coolest tapping lick"

"Coolest 80's metal style riff"

Heck, throw in videos!!!!

"Biggest Hair!"

"Tightest pants!"

Its all about fun. And throwing the gauntlet down with our friends can be lots of fun.

The bad thing i don't like is that you have to upload your song somewhere else and not even know if its your original work.
