Greetings, GMC Team!

A few weeks ago at Todd's videochat an idea came to my mind to use my left thumb while
tapping, because the stretch would be much wider that way.
So here's a brief improvisation in G Minor:

Thumb Tapping

I hope you like it. And don't forget to share ideas. : )

I remember that vchat, and I remember trying it. And I also remember it not being anywhere as easy as you made it look. Do you think it is something you will be using in more compositions? Next you will have to combine that with your MAB over under playing thing. smile.gif

Hey Dian! I like the ideas, but now I think you should rehearse them a bit more at a slower tempo because in some points it looks like you had timing problems. I know it was improvised, but it would be a good exercise to pick up the timing faulty parts and exercise them until you can play them at will with great interpretation and timing wink.gif

Deal?

Cosmin

Good idea! If you master it as Cosmin said you'll be a pioneer of this technique. It's time to practice it! smile.gif

Very cool stuff!! I think I"m going to add this technique in to some up coming chats. Looks like it's right up our alley for Shredtastic Jam Sessions! smile.gif

That's really amazing man! The strength to hold the neck steady and keep the strings from buzzing as well as you did is really commendable. I would have difficulty just being able to jump to position, much less having the dexterity to carry out the scales.

Major Props sir!

Hey, guys! : )

I decided to make another video of the "Thumb Tapping" technique.
I think the timing is a bit better this time.

Thumb Tapping

Let me know if I have to work extra on something.

Greetings!

Dian

Cool good job man, I use my thumb like that for certain chord voicings that can't be played otherwise! Great to see this!

Nice!! Great stretch with that thumb! Try lifting the thumb to get an open string in and make it a four note tap?

Hey Dian! The idea is very nice, but it needs a bit more definition - have you isolated it and practiced it with a metronome starting from a slow tempo and then implemented it in the backing track?
