Some folks love rack gear. Some folks love pedals. Some folks like a mix of both. For folks that like foot pedals in their effects chain, having a good board on which to attach those pedals is critical. Even for home studio use, it’s handy to have a place to park and power all of your pedals. There are a variety of boards available, something for every budget. Let’s take a look.

1.)PEDALTRAIN NOVO 18
This one is high on the “value for money” factor. It’s made from aircraft grade aluminum and comes with a soft case. It’s dimensions are 45.7cm x 36.8cm x 8.9mm. It’s a large board and has plenty of space to put a large variety of foot pedals and a power supply or two. It’s also built like a tank and won’t get destroyed the first time someone drops it by mistake. If you want, you can add a riser to this board to allow more bits to be added for more foot stomp fun. Also, you can buy a separate power supply from them that is built to mount underneath. It’s a solid unit with expandibility. Also it won’t break the bank at $130.

2.)BOSS BCB-1000
Next up, a very handy unit from BOSS. It’s made from aluminum and abs plastic. Weighs in a 6.7kh and is sized at 55.8cm x 35.4cm x 19.4cm. This unit is built to travel. In addition to having a large pedalboard to mount your pedals to, it comes in a abs plastic case that looks like a stury carry on flight suitcase. It’s designed to fit in any overhead compartment on just about any plane. So if you are taking a flight, this one is for you. It’s got wheels and an extendable handle so it’s very easy to transport. It can be yours for $400.

3.)TEMPLE AUDIO SOLO 18
This unit has two handles on either side which make it easy to move around and it’s got good floor clearance so that you can mount your power supply on the underside. Dimensions are 45.8cm x 21.6cm x 6.6cm. In addition, the surface has lots of holes through which you can run cables and mounting to allow you mount your pedals without the need for velcro. It’s designed to contain up to 10 effect pedals. The durable aluminum is road ready and and it weighs under a kilo so it won’t break your back luggin it around. There are a plethora of modules available to add on from the builder including power and power amp modules. It can be yours for only $90.

4)PEDAL TRAIN NANO PLUS
This is a very sturdy board with a very small footprint. Dimensions are at 50.1cm x 15.8cm x 11.4cm. So it’s not a large board. It can allow one row of pedals and maybe one power supply but it will probably have to be mounted on top. While space is limited, it’s small size makes is easy to carry around. It comes with a handy case as well. You can fit roughly six pedals on it and it’s built from aluminum to keep it light while being tough. The only drawback is that it’s not angled. Its’ just flat. However, at this size that’s not really a problem. If size is your concern, this one is for you. Yours for only $80
