So far I was using digital cameras for video production, mostly Nikon D500, D7000 and D300, and they were all producing good results, but I was always missing the HD camcorder feel. Soooooo
this is what I got now Panasonic HDC-SD60 Cheapest native 1MOS HD camcorder (cheapest I could find), but it does the job great, specially in low light conditions! It has component and HDMI outs, writes 1080@50i@17mbps AVCHD videos on memory cards, and has awesome zoom! -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

Nice camera, I hope you will be satisfied! I see that it captures in the interpolated mode. There was no progressive version ?! Thanks mate! No progressive version in this price range, progressive recording is usually reserved for more expensive models. It's not a problem tho, there are no interlacing artifacts when playing directly on TV, and there are no after the editing process is done too. I have the exact same one but its a HDC-HS60 ...not sure the difference haha It's the exact same model but with 120GB hard disk built in! Enjoy I"ve been using a Sony HD mini and a Canon Vixia HD mini cam. I must say I think you might miss the shallow depth of field you can create with a Canon DSLR. But it is really handy having a nice, small HD cam. I usually end up trying to put the depth of field back in with the Magic Bullet plugins when I shoot with my Vixia. Thanks Todd! You mean Nikon cams? I didn't use Canon DSLRs, but I guess they work similar? I did use the effect for some of the video work I've done, but for video production I normally do, there is little use of a very shallow depth of field. Nice!! I wanna get an HD cam some day too. Thanks mate! Getting an HD webcam, like some Logitech models will get you there at a fraction of a cost. This cam would be very suitable for home recording only tho. that's nice man, but do you prefer a camcorder instead of a dslr? i couldn't be happier with mine These cams are awesome at what they do, specially D300. I enjoyed taking pictures with them more tho. The control of the photography process and comfort of use is excellent, who knows what he is doing can make awesome things with it. On the other hand, I don't like the limitations these cams put on recording video. Like the 5 min limit for videos on D300 and D5000 and 10 minute limit on D7000, or not being able to monitor what I record. Also, only D7000 had 1080@24p video, with not so great compression, while D5000 and D300 have 720@24p videos, which is enough now, but not for the future. Congrats Ivan!! I also have a new camera!! but it's a new Webcam! Thanks man! Congratulations on the webcam, it's great and practical to have it always on monitor/standby! -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE
