its great to know that youve practiced tapping with your right hand for the first time and practiced it so much that you actually ripped the skin of the top of your middle finger while doing so.

Each new technique gives us a trouble, sometimes even a pain as you said. sad.gif
Give yourself a break and let your fingertip back in shape again.
Also,be sure not to hit string to hard and to have right action of the string. smile.gif

Just like worken up calisis smile.gif gotta work your way up to doing alot of it. 1 replacement for the finger is just tapping with your pick, i use this tecnique for fast taping but it works just as well for slower stuff.

All you need is a couple of days rest, maybe even one day is enough. Whenever you start a new technique it will hurt in one way or another.

i used to prefer that method before, but after practicing both, i decided that finger-tapping was better for me. But good suggestion, using the pick when your fingers hurt is a good idea.
