Hey!

My bridge-pu won't give me any sound! It gives sound when combined with the middle, but not standalone. The PU works fine in middle position, then the other PU won't work, so I suspect that it is something wrong with the connections inside my pickup-selector (5-way) How do these look inside? never seen one stripped down....

I also wanna know how to tighten pots. My volume pot keeps spinning around, and won't lock in place.

Thanks!

Wiring most be wrong, traditional strat wiring can be found all over the internet, here is a website I always visit for info and supplies.

http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/Electronic...ams/i-3192.html

You need a soldering gun, to do this it is not hard, you need to remove strings remove the pickguard and check the wiring, tightening the pot is easier, simply pull out the knob you should see a hex nut, just tighten that a little.

Hope this helps

Yeah, probably wiring but it can be broken as well.
In combination with middle pickup,
are you sure that bridge pickup is working at all,
can hear "bum" if you hit a pole on it?

As for the pots,I believe you talking about knob actually,
you can't spin the pot few times around,it has wires connected to it
so maybe you need just a new knob. smile.gif

I've explored it furter, and the bridge position is dead. I've tried several PU's, but no success, seems like the PU switch right?

It sounds like it, most strat switches let you see the contacts, so look at the switch. Anyway if it is broken these aren't expensive

If you have a multimeter you can measure between the pins to see if ther are alive.

I've never error traced it like that but I rather measured to find which pins were active in respectibe position. But if you have a connection diagram you'd see which pins you should measure.

Are the contacts on the switch actually soldered properly? Maybe bridge PU contacts desoldered.

I wouldn't recommend a soldering gun, if you're unlucky they can discharge a pickup (not fully but partially). I'd use a soldering station instead.

Ok, I'll update on my quest. I had a strong suspicion that the PU-switch has broke, so I unscrewed it and popped it in half (It is a japanese Strat, so the switch was covered up with a plastic cover). I then could clearly see that the metal-arm that led from the bridge PU's hotwire was a tad more crooked than the other "arms", so I simply just adjusted it slightly by bending it with a screwdriver. Mounted everything back up and VOILA, it worked. Well, I can feel that the switch is quite loose, and if I rattle it around when in bridge position, it sometimes cuts off, so I will probably just replace it when I get a chance. Problem solved!

And about the pots....I did mean the pot, but as you said Muris, it doesn't spinns around, it's just really loose. So, a few turns on the hexscrew did the trick.

Thank you all for the help!
