My gear addiction wins again!! This guitar is 1 of 100 built, so I"m glad to have it smile.gif It has EMG 707 pickups which concerned me but for some reason they work well!! I seem to like them better than the EMG 808 pickups although I think they are the same design. Perhaps it's the woods on the guitar? I"m not sure. This one is mahogany and set neck.

DEAN DBZ BARCHETTA RX-7 (7 String) LIMITED RUN

*I"ll be using it for this weekends chat! Whaddya think?

Traded for it still in the box! It's the limited edition "RX-7" version which is supposed to remind one of a racing bike. They made 100 of each paint style. I think there are 5 styles. It feels a offshoot between a PRS and LES PAUL smile.gif The action is brilliant, I gotta say. The EMG 707 sound great in it too which shocked me smile.gif

I dig it.

I normally don't like stuff like that but the clean, 3 color rally stripe thing is pretty cool!

My luthier is a fan of DBZ's. They are sold here but not popular and I haven't played one yet.

He specially commented that the neck construction was very good, fret height and neck angle being very "perfect" for the price they are sold for.

He's SPOT ON!!! smile.gif That pretty much nails it smile.gif The SET NECK provides pretty astounding resonance and sustain, much like a Les Paul. Also, the fret height/action is simply some of the best I"ve ever seen. The action is just effortless.

This guitar lists for almost $1,200 but list is pretty meaningless. This is a "Limited Edition" due to the paint job and is 1 of 100 like it. They made 100 of each RX type. I think there are 5 models total.

I traded for this one as I was really curious about them after some vids about them and I love rare/limited edition axes. smile.gif But as you know, I only tend my gear for a brief time typically before freeing it to move on to the next adventure. But I"m glad I had the chance to tend this one, even if only for a bit smile.gif

Todd

I used to be a HUGE fan of EMG pups til I started falling in love with passive/boutique/alnico based pups. Also, I've not been thrilled with the 808 (8 string EMG) pups so the 707 ( 7 string emg) gave me pause. However, in this axe I"m SOLD! I'm not sure if it's the pups or the axe but they sound amazing. Soooooo deeeeep and resonant! Unlike the 808 which sounds a bit undefined and dark/fizzy/muddy imho.

I"m not sure if the 707 are different in terms of their build/guts but man does it sound different than the 808. Then again, it could be the guitar. This guitar has a string through/set neck design that gives it Les Paul "ish" tone qualities. Killer sustain and depth. So I can't tell if I like the pups or the guitar or the pups just in this guitar smile.gif

This was still sealed in the box! smile.gif So it was brand spanking new which was spiff smile.gif Had to give some good monitors/mics/stands for it but it was a good trade smile.gif
