Hey Guys smile.gif!!!

First of all great Guitar Site with great teachers , i've never learned that much in this short time thank you!

My problem is my alt.picking when im trying to change the string,on one string i can play normal alt picking but when i have to change the string I loose control and stop playing alt picking.

My Question is , which lesson is the best one to get control of my Alt. picking during changening the Strings??

Thanks in Advance

I think the 1on1 Pentatonic lessons in the 1on1 section could be good for that, and all the speedpicking lessons. Remember, start SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW smile.gif

Hi there,
When you first start alternate picking its only natural you will slip back into old habits - especially when improviseing. I would suggest doing lessons where you have to play a set peice of music that require alternate picking through out.

I would start with any of the alternate picking lessons from the "Exercises" video libary. If we take Gabi's alt picking etude for example, you have to start with a down stroke and you play strictly alternate picking through the peice of music. After practicing these exercises everyday for a few months your brain will click into alt picking and I found from there on, When I improvised i didnt have to put to much thought into changeing strings because knew what to do automatically.

I hope this helps you! smile.gif

One thing that really helped me is that there were things I knew how to play that I just didn't play anymore, for whatever reason. But anyway, I made a point to go over EVERYTHING i had ever learned to play and become comfortable alternate picking with it. That only took a day or so (after I already had alt picking down otherwise), but if you've been playing longer than me you might have too many songs to go over tongue.gif

My thinking was just that, if I have these songs programmed in my head as downpicking, it might affect me overall so I went and relearned them. Now I do everything alt picking unless I want to do otherwise cool.gif
