Hi Alex,
I thought these were a few tough examples of what to expect.
Anyhow here it is:
Harmonize G scale
G A B C D E F G
HARMONIZED WITH A 3RD
B C D E F G A B
A7 Chord
Would be A dominant 7
Chord structure 1, 3, 5, b7
A C E F#
ii - V - I chord progression starting with Cmi7
Thricky starting on a ii with a minor 7th
My guess: Cmi7 Fmaj Dmaj ? (Need to understand the intricacies here)
D mi7 - Bb - Gmi - F What key this chord progression in?
D minor
You did a very good job!
A few things:
I would like you to harmonize G major scale with chords
Gmaj7 - Ami7 etc.
Please check out A7 chord there is a mistake! I would like you to find it yourself
We will comeback to II - V - I chord progression after the first two challenges and you will see why later!
You are absolutely correct about the chord progression but there is an alternative!
The key progression can be in two keys Bb/Gmi and F/Dmi
here is how to look at it:
D mi7 - Bb - Gmi - F
F/Dmi major scale harmonized:
F - Gmi - Ami - Bb - C - Dmi - E dim
Bb/Gmi major scale harmonized:
Bb - Cmi - Dmi - Eb - F - Gmi - Adim
You can see that the triads are the same in both keys so unless I will be using 7th chords it can be both!
