So, today it felt like I hit a brick wall... I REALLY wanted to spend the day practicing (and practice I did (for around 3 hours))... but I really don't know how to progress (or in any way feel like I have) it's really strange... Has anyone else ever felt like this?

YES!!!.... I have been there many times. As a matter of fact I seem to have to fight through it every other week. Just keep pressing forward and play your scales and chords and whatever else you might be working on. My problem is I start to feel lost and I lose focus. When I get this way I go back to the basics. Playing scales to the metronome. Practicing Chord progressions etc. Then after a day or two I will have a good day and get my focus back. Another problem I have is randomly jumping from one thing to another with no plan. Now I am more focused on theory and applying that to the guitar. Learning the notes on the neck and using that to play the scales and modes. I am getting long winded. The best thing is not to get discouraged and to go back to the basics if you feel lost. Thats what I do anyway.

lol! Everyday! Just try breaking the pattern, have a couple of days off, listen to some music you wouldnt normally listen to, practice songs instead of just exercises etc just try and do something different, your will to learn will return!

It happens to everyone, no worries.
Good thing is that with more experience and skills
it'll appear less and less often. smile.gif

Hehe yeah I guess you're right...

I think it's a combination of things -- I need a new 'pattern' per se, I also need to learn more (maybe theory, (because I think thats one thing holding me back creatively I guess))... but also I want to play songs.. do something FUN you know?...

Also I think it's an emotional state... like the other day (thursday) I played out of the blue a song that actually brought tears to my eyes. no IDEA where it came from. NOR do I have any idea how to play it... (which I'd wager is part of my frustration)...

I've moved to Holland for a year or so and I want to (by the time i'm back) know a LOT of how to play etc. with my guitar... I don't wanna be a complete beginner anymore you know?

As for the bands... well I seem to have taken a real liking for flyleaf and bands like decyfer down lately (and funny enough: Brooke fraser (COMPLETELY NON rock/metal).... and hillsong) (where I normally listen to слот and the like -- bands like the Offspring, tracktor bowling, spineshank, chevelle...

I agree with Emir and Muris!
It happens but as you improve more and develop good habit to practice every day, it will appear less often smile.gif

It IS combination of things, well spotted.
What you actually need is smoother filtration of your motivation and potential
but you can't do lot in that area unless you really upgrade your knowledge and skills.
And this is how it actually work, with higher skills and everything ofc.
You can actually feel (or know?) what to focus on when in appears.
You mentioned a song you played few days ago, came out of nothing
and you have no idea how to play it...must be frustrating indeed.
With better skills you'd be able to analyze it TOTALY,
figure out WHY it brings tears to your eyes
and eventually use a similar effect in your own composing work!!
Many things will get clearer, you'll also know much better
what segment of your technique is lacking the most
and you would be able to fully focus on THAT,
without asking anyone what to practice. smile.gif

Work, work aaaand work!
