Whammy, Setup

I've noticed that people in movies just use two fingers to push down there bar, were I need to use my whole arm strength. This is probably because of the springs on the back side of the guitar are set up badly right? Like when plastic is scratching over something. The problem is that something hits something making a high tone noise. Anyone? I need help on this. changes made when problem occured: Tremolo screws changed postion (some experimenting found out that the position of the screws didn't effect the tone) Removed the back plate. " Like when plastic is scratching over something" Well, that would be your strings sliding up and down on the nut. This is a problem I've experienced with many cheaper guitars ( I dont know what quality guitar you've got ), the same goes for the trem bar... I got an old guitar which I totally striped down and did everything I could possibly think of with it . On that guitar it was also hard to dive, but it didn't matter how much I loosend the springs. It was still hard to dive it fully. "but I'm afraid to screw the screws totally out" Dont be afraid of the screwing the screws out, you can get them in without the many problems The only help I can think off is to smoothen out the nut and maby put some oil on your bridge, maby this helps a bit to stop the squeaking You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick. Afriend of mine has loosles handles on his bicycle. When he turns the rubber over the Iron you get the same sound. I think I'm just gonna let it as it is..i can only break more I saww something on the action higering/lowering thing, and I thought let's try, no my guitar buzzes and I ended uper with higer action as before. Mar 26 2008, 06:21 PM	GMC:er Posts: 552 Joined: 6-December 07 From: England	you could remove a spring from the back, depending on your string gauge. if you're playing 09's then you can just have two springs to give it a lighter feel. you may have to adjust the screws on the spring claw to reduce the tip up angle of your bridge. this won't fix the noise. edit: the noise could be caused by the spring claw not being straight, so the springs pull it and it clicks on the screws. could be the springs ringing out. you can stop ringing by putting something in the back to muffle the sound, like foam or something.
