If I were living in Dimbola Lodge, I sure have to take off those stupid things. Shame on his family.

I think this is actually pretty funny. It's not as bad as you're all making it out to be.

I agree with Trey, this was made to honor him. I haven't seen this statue but I've been to austin and seen stevie ray's, I can tell you its true that there would be an angry mob there if they did that to stevie. That statue is representative of jimi's life and to slap a corporate ad on it is going against everything jimi was for.

if i lived there i would set the whole thing on fire, therefore the statue would survive being uber cool hendrix and made of hard metal and the plastic would melt, just as hendrix hinted in his guitar burnings smile.gif
or just rip it all off and set activision on fire - hq and branches mad.gif

but obviously i wont do that because its illegal and we do not discuss illegal actions of members on GMC because thats not good ph34r.gif

Hm ... you can hear every day a new cover of Jimi's songs somewhere. His music is used in so many movies as just background music. T-shirts .. all kind of merchandizing stuff ... does anybody ask if he would have been ok with that?

I kind of doubt Jimi would have liked to have a statue of himself anyway.

I don't know..

Jimi would probably just say "Hey! What's all the fuzz about?" and shrug and get on with his music.
He was that kind of person. No big deal.
Just like SRV by the way.

None of those guys would've like to be elevated to Gods. wink.gif

QUOTE ("Steve Vai")
Start by playing something - a bend, a riff, a scale, a song - very slowly; if you make a mistake, start over; do this over and over, until you can play it flawlessly - and I do mean flawlessly - many times in a row. Next, gradually increase the tempo. Eventually you'll be flailing like a madman.

He really was relaxed about things like this.
However, he never really got the chance to agree whether or not he'd wanted to be used to make all those kinds of merchandises and stuff, but then again: fame is a "dangerous" thing, people will suck your tit dry to earn just a shred of your popularity and success. So I guess when you engage in the business, you do know that.

As long as people don't defile his grave or talk bad about him, I kindda fail to see the problem.
