Dude, I agree with you!!! Marty is the master of arpeggios, most people only use arpeggios for a few things. Studying Marty's style really helped me with improvisation.

I think he means you gotto know about the notes that you choose, I mean you can feel the notes all you want but if you don't know anything about the notes you choose, and just play whatever, you won't get a good sound. But once you have alot of knowledge about the notes that you choose you can play so much more confidently, and really feel the notes. I mean, Dimebag wasn't big on theory, but I'm sure he knew what notes sounded good in a given key, and that's how he can really feel a solo.
