Hey!

Looking for advice for buying a new acoustic guitar.
I mainly want to use it for playing calm songs, like some Eric Clapton or Pink Floyd - and stuff like that!
I just can't decide what type to get and what brand/model etc..
Was thinking nylon string. And a cutaway could be really cool, though its not that needed.
Was looking at some Ibanez G with cutaway, they're electric/acoustic though. Is there any noticeable difference in the quality of pure acoustic and electric/acoustic guitars?

On guitars i have seen that can be bought electro/acoustic or just acoustic the electro acoustic costs at least £50 more, so i suppose you sacrifice that much quality of guitar for it to be electro.

Whether there is difference quality on pure acoustic and electric/acoustic guitars it depends a lot on the model itself. So no other advice but going there and trying yourself. Actually, nowadays most of steel string guitars come with the pickup and a lot of the nylon string ones have it as well.

Considering that you are aiming at low budget, the pickup may be a big part of price, so chances are that you will be able to find a better guitar if you the pickup is not a must for you. But the only way to determining that is testing both. However one thing you should avoid is buying a pure acoustic and installing a pickup later. As the guitar was not designed for that, chances are you may mess up your sound. So, consider where you will want to plug it into the future or not.

For the kind of songs you mentioned (rock ballads) I would consider as first option steel string guitars. It will give you a sound much closer to original. Also, for this kind of music look for a guitar with bright sound. I don't know your experience with guitar but steel strings is not gentle with the fingers in the beginning. So if you are starting, nylon may still be the best choice.
