Started with it last night and getting ready to jump into it tonight here in the next 30 min or so. Getting a bit of a late start tonight. I feel a bit more structured with this routine so thanks for your suggestion bro. I have always just practiced randomly and never set time limits on anything. Last night was really the first time practice truly felt productive. Once I have the other two lessons memorized, I'm sure it will feel even better! I've noticed too, anytime I pick up my guitar and start playing anything, my right hand is moving up AND down! For me, big accomplishment bro and I owe your guidance to that! I thought breaking things up into time slots would help, especially with the kids. This way you can play, take a break if you need and continue. If we just stick to a schedule like this and change lesson's as we go you will really see some progress. When you get time I would really like to see an upload for each. If you don't know the 2 new lessons all the way through just give me a teaser. I really want to see your right hand moving Maybe instead of playing it one time through and stopping you could do it 2 or 3 times before stopping the video. Sorry no vid man but I want you to have a listen if you would. I started with a simple Chord progression from chords out of the S&A lesson. Am, C and Em, then I used the same strumming pattern form Joe's Pop lesson but at a slower tempo and tried to follow the progression with a solo.. Have a listen and tell me how bad it is. I played this all by ear with no metronome so may be a bit out of time but anyhow... I'll have a video up for you tomorrow on the other stuff. The track seemed ruff and the cars were bouncing all over the place. I hate when they end the race because of a wreck. Hey about your upload, one thing I noticed was this. You’re not painting fence UP and DOWN. On the first part it’s all DOWN strokes and you end on an UP stroke for each chord. On the second part it’s all UP strokes and you end on a down stroke for each chord. Think of it more like a slow sweep. Just let the pick glide UP or DOWN the strings depending on which part you are playing. Then you won’t have to watch your right hand while you pick. This should make it easier for you to focus on the left hand chords and fingering. The ‘F’ chord got worse on this one. How are the other exercises coming along? That's going to present some issues for sure but I will overcome..Muris plays the lesson this way, but if you want, I will go to all AP. And yes, I was worse on the #&$(%(& "F" Chord.. It's the I suck button... As far as the others go, I have mainly been focusing on Dejan's lesson this week and using Joe's lesson as a warm up as you recommended. I will say, my left hand hurt's from that exercise even at low speed. I started with it this morning then backed off to get a bit of rest. Still after it though, 60bpm is the goal! I enjoyed our talk we had btw. A lot has happened at work since that talk. I have not had much "quality" time with my guitar either. I managed to get a quick take of the S&A lesson last night and I must say, to me, it's not much better. Still practicing it though and if I get a chance tonight, I'll record a vid of the first part of Dijan's lesson. I'll talk to you more about the situation. You and I (and a lot of others in the USA) are going through all this company restructure crap right now. Expenses are increasing and the amount of pay or appreciation is decreasing. I don't get as much playing time as I would like either as you know. Once a week for a few hours really sucks! You also know what’s going on in my personnel life. But instead of getting frustrated I try and channel that energy and I really look forward to my time playing. When I close the door and it is my time to practice that's it! No one bothers me and I let my emotions poor out. However I feel at the moment I just go with it. This really helps me deal with things. I eventually forget about other things, the real me begins to come out and I start to feel better. Maybe this can help you also. Thanks for the upload BTW bro. I think it was a lot better than the last one. Your aware of the mistakes you made so there isn't a reason for me to point them out. I will say this though, you looked pretty comfortable playing at that tempo. There weren't any huge mistakes and trust me when I tell you the little ones (muted notes, etc..) will be gone some. I know practicing this lesson is getting old but it is very important that you accomplish this. I'll call you this weekend if you want to chat.
