Thanks for accepting me!

My goals: well, long term goals I suppose I would love to be able to play music, you know, hang with a bunch of other musicians and start to play, improvise, etc., as well as being able to play songs by ear and know quite a lot of theory (not just know, applying it!)

I've had the guitar for some years now but I've never applied myself seriously: no lesson plan, no metronome, no ear training.. I would consider myself as low intermediate level. I've studied music as a kid but only for a couple of years (solfeo and piano), so I know theory basic stuff.

My true weakness that I would really like to start working from the beginning is Rhythm, chord rhythm. I'm unable to tap my foot on a lot of rhythms and this really frustrates me. This happens to me mostly on strumming. I frustrate mainly because I can't follow a rhythm with naturality and my right hand doesn't go 'easy' strumming. I suppose great blame for this is not using a metronome.

Strong point: not that strong, but compared to my playing in general I think i have a decent vibrato and bending technique, but not that good, I still want to get it a lot better!

Favorite guitar players: a have quite a few, from Jimi Hendrix to Paco de Lucía, Neil Young, Tommy Emmanuel, Frusciante, Allman Brothers, Clapton, BB King.. a long list!

I have a DAW i'm learning to use (Konnekt 24D) to record myself and in short time a Camera too... I still have to figure how to sync video and audio and all that but it won't take long, I hope.

So I suppose I am a regular player, which wants to improve his tecnique, ear, rhythm, theory..

Cool! So here we go!
I read your post and it took me some time to figure out what we can start with!
I prepared two tracks for you
one with my rhythm guitar in it and another one with drums and bass only
Chords are really simple
C - Ami - Emi
Since you mentioned that you have troubles with strumming I want you to create and record two guitar parts on top of each other
First part using this voicings for the chords:
C major

A minor


E minor


And for the second part use this voicings:
C major


A minor


E minor



Here are the tracks:

Now... The trick is to play both strums exactly the same way!
To start make it very simple and try to fit the rhythms together
This little exercise will help you so much!
You will be able to work on you timing, rhythms and ideas at the same time and have fun!
Please let me know if you have any questions tomorrow I will give you a couple of rhythm figures to practice as well!

I didn't tell you my time availabilty/dedication per week. I get pretty busy on weekdays since I study in the morning and work in the afternoon, even though I grab the guitar everytime I can. So when I got time is usually on weekends.

I want you to come up with your own groove and make a double with different voicings it will help you to develop
