Greetings, brave ones.. after you've finished your 500 push ups you may come and collect your next Task..

Task 27: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Running-Around/

Yep, another one of mine ! wink.gif

Since you're in the AP mood, I think you're ready for this one. Plus, like the Apprentice Task, you can steal these ideas and work them into your own phrases and ideas.

Ok, so it's not all AP.. there's an evil little legato section in there but you're ok with that, right ??? smile.gif

Deadline is next Friday 3rd August or I lock you in The Temple's cellar for a week with nothing but Tofu for company..

I remember this lesson from when I first joined GMC in January. I couldn't play it very well at all but I really wanted to. I'm about six months in to GMC and would say I've made some noticeable leaps in my playing! I was barely touching my guitars before, now I am totally addicted again. smile.gif

Anyway, this solo reminds me of Andy LaRoque playing in some ways. I noticed a couple "pops/ clips" or something but they are not from my track.

Degroot, really really solid brother. I'm afraid this one is a little over my head. At least at full tempo.

okay, ben ,this is my problem
I learn patterns quickly and can get them up to 115 120 bpm's 16ths in about a day, but that is it ,been practicing with a metronome for almost 5 years and can never get perfect above that speed

and is the tab and what you play different in window 3

Man, that's a cool thing to be greeted with when I check out GMC ! Very nice !

I noticed you used some different positions to play some of the licks which is interesting.. how did you find the picking patterns ?

I wonder whether it's your actual picking approach that's holding you back. I remember there was a time where I couldn't get past a moderate speed and it was because I was being too meticulous about not moving certain parts and it was all because I'd taken some picking advice to heart too much and it stunted by playing. I was trying to muscle through it with my thumb joint only and didn't allow my wrist, hand or forearm to move at all. Hard to describe here, really.. but I'd taken some general picking advice too literally. Would be interesting to see some footage of your picking technique.

hmm... not sure to be honest. I thought I was playing the runs in the same position as your lesson? Can you tell me which part?
I didn't make the clearest video... seemed like a good idea at the time. biggrin.gif I could submit another one without the effect on it.

00:30 - 00:34 seems different. I think you move up the neck earlier than I do. Also the last run sounds a bit different but maybe not !? It doesn't matter, it was just interesting to see smile.gif
