Somehow I had a very weird week... Some friends of mine are recording their new album and they asked me to contribute a solo for one of the songs. This sounded like fun so of course I agreed. I got the backing track and I have to say even though I loved it, the chord changes were rather "uncomfortable" for me, but hey, it is a cool thing to be forced to leave your comfort zone, isn't it? After all this makes us improve...
Well, the problem was that I HAD to be creative in a limited period of time, but inspiration just was NOT coming at all... I was jamming endlessly to the backing track and whatever I recorded, I listened to it on the next morning an deleted it right away. With the deadline comiing closer and closer I really started to ge a little nervous, of course I didn't want to dissapoint the guys, and I also didn't want to hand in something I didn't really like myself, but well, what can you do? You can't force inspiration... Thank god 2 days before the deadline I finally had the one idea I needed to get going, the intro for the solo part, funny enough from that point on everything went smooth and fast. Sometimes we just need this first lick to get going... Well, after having finished my takes I wanted to relax a bit, listen to some music... It is a nice thing to have a central server hard disk with all your music, like this you can access it from everywhere, it is not a nice thing at all though when this server suddenly decides to stop working and you can't access anything anymore sad.gif Of course I have a backup with all my files, but you know what is even worse than a dying server? A dying backup! And this is what happend one day after the server died, the backup died as well sad.gif Now I have to struggle to get my stuff back... Oh, and did I mention the girl that crashed into my car yesterday? I guess it has not been my week...

Tell me about it Ben... Normally you feel rather secure when you do backups on different hard disks, but when the backup also dies... sad.gif The car thing is only minor damage, thank god. Well, her insurance will have to cover it, she crashed into my car, still it sucks, many things came together this week.

Marcus...I have no backup at all for the stuff I've been working on beginning with 2012 - not related to music though. I burn a DVD each time I finish a project, just to know I have the tracks and everything safely stored smile.gif Thanks for reminding me to take some time and do it!

Well, if a pigeon soils you - you might have a lot of luck! I got soiled by a big group of crows back when I was in highschool and I got the simplest questions at the final highschool test two days later laugh.gif

Lol, well, no angry birds in sight here but finally I could connect to the server harddisk for some time at least. It gave me the chance to get back something around 30% of my date so far, I will keep trying, hopefully I will get back everything.

Speaking of computers...

My Mac mini harddrive is also breaking down. It loads up like in 20 minutes and after that viewing web is pain in the ass. The harddrive is also making these click sounds.

Warranty covers it and I have a back up but...Damn it's under a year old machine mad.gif How can that be even possible ?

Never trust technology too much, man smile.gif It's here to help us, but in the same time it drives us crazy and we spend MORE time setting up things and researching for upgrades, rather than getting good at what we really do. At least this is what I feel when I look around.

There is definitely some truth in what you are saying. And you know, maybe warranty covers broken hard disks, but when I lose my data I can't do much with a blank new disk. And the problem nowadays is, that most things tend to break pretty much exactly one week after warranty expires...
