Hey there, my friend, neighbour and fellow soccer fan.. lol

nice video... Messi really is amazing. And he is on the road again to earn the prize for best player in the world, I am positive.

Last week he scored the 300th goal of his career and judging by his low age (and his health plus strength - it is not common to see him injured), he'll probably score lots more .. biggrin.gif

talking about something not so amazing (my current level guitar skills, lol), I have a little video to show you. This was recorded just recently and I did record it after my practice time, when I was just having fun and toying around with my guitar.. no pressure, no need to "make it right", just fun.... and, in the end I have played some basic chords and little of barre chords too, so you can get a little picture at my current technique overalll level..

let me know what you think.. and, as I always say to Alex and Cosmin, I am not afraid to be criticized if needed, I want to be corrected and to grow, so, show no mercy, hahahahaa

(maybe a little bit... hahhaa)

PS: The hair was a nightmare (making poetry here, lol) on the video because here in Brasilia was so hoooooooooooooooot ... so, excuse me for such a display of horror, kkk, thus the name of the video file, kkk, "crazy hair"

Sure, I think that has a little importance too, right? just kidding... biggrin.gif

Mind if I use the description I did of myself when Alex began mentoring me? I'll copy the words here and I'll make some adjustments because I think the portrait I gave to him about myself is very accurate

Anyway, here it goes:

My goals: to become a competent guitar player, mastering the main areas of the instrument (rhythm, melody and harmony), regarding the genres I like, to be able to compose my own songs and to perform with other musicians, to be able to play songs from other guitar players or bands. Above all that, to develop my skills and musicality so that God can channel that thru me to help other people and to praise Him with my music and the passion for music that He has built in me

guitar players and styles:

I like a lot of musical genres, including jazz, fusion, metal, classic rock, alternative rock, blues, Christian music (because I am christian) among other things. I would like to consider myself more inclined to be a fusion guitar player of some sorts.

frank gambale, john mclaughlin, allan holdsworth, luis maldonalle, brett garsed, terje rypdal, richie kotzen, eddie van halen, greg howe, andy timmons, eric johnson, alex machacek, joe pass, vinnie moore, john petrucci, mattias eklundh, steve stevens, neil zaza, paul gilbert, brad carlton, larry carlton, robben ford, jeff beck, hendrix, pat metheney... also some jazz musicians too, such as paul desmond, dave brubeck, john coltrane, mingus, herbie hancock, bill evans, chet baker...

Bands: (not in a particular order of taste) - I have the tendency to listen more to guitar players, I like instrumental driven music, particularly fusion, metal, jazz and rock, dream theater, oficina g3, beatles, fireflight, demon hunter, war of ages, incubus, extrapolation fusion trio (from luis maldonalle), van halen, shadow gallery, pillar, Red, third day, harmony, 7days, darkwater, for today, beyond bethel, ufo, europe, pink floyd, out trio (machacek with terry bozzio), alter bridge, second soul, mr. big (both with paul gilbert and with richie kotzen), BLS, and other stuff I can't remember now..

I think that's pretty miuch it... lol

If you need anything else, lemme know

peace, brother!

Ok, thanks for posting this mate! You said that you wanted to work on changing chords with me... I was wondering if you started working on the chords lessons from our Beginner's corner section. There are some really nice tunes to work one there.

I remember that I used to play along records of my favourite bands when I was a beginner and that was my chords workout. I used the chord books of bands like Ramones, Rolling Stones, Nirvana and many more...

Also, my other question is if you worked on my Picnic Panic lesson...

Hey, Gab

Yes, I had started the chords lessons from Beginner's corner. But I did only the first one. I'll keep on working on them then, as you said.

Thanx for that tip.

As for your Picnic Panic lesson, no, I had not watched it until now. I did watch it today though and thought it was very funny and helpful. Gonna give it a try to.

Do you want me to give some kind of report to you regarding those lessons or to post videos while I'm on it, or anything else?

let me know.

thanx again for the help, my friend.

P.S.: Have you seen Sao Paulo F.C defeat La U in Santiago for 2X0 yesterday? biggrin.gif

I am starting to think Sao Paulo has a shot on winning the Copa Sulamericana de Futebol... haha!

There is a returning game next week but it will be here in Brazil so it is harder for La U to score 3 goals, although they are a very dangerous opponent to face (and have played beautifully at the second half)

The match between Independiente and Universidade do Chile very tough judging by the draw. Let's see how that one plays out in the end.

What is your favorite soccer team?

Alright, mr. Boca Juniors' fan! lol

Here goes my progress report:
I am seeing some progess over my chords after I started to practice Bear's Beginners' Corner

I will finish it first before digging deeper on your picnic panic lesson (by the way, I thought the video is so funny and even not having plans to play to a group of friends over a picnic like that one - at least not that I am aware now - I surely can relate to that situation, hahahaaa). Biut the lesson is also great and as soon as I finish all lessons for open chords in beginners' corner, that one is gonna be my next goal.

Ok, one question:
Bear talks a litlte about the chords per se, but I don't see him commenting on the right hand technique he uses do those kinda pauses he does (I know he uses palm muting). but it seems that is also lifting the left hand fingers to cause a little percussive effect overthe chords. It may be a very stupid question, my friend (and I am sorry for that), since that is a beginnner's video, but could you give me some clarification on the way Bear does the right hand and left hand over those progressions? (for example: the one, consisting of G, Em, D and C)

super duper mega hyper thanx and, by the way, I do agree with Carlitos Tevez; Cristiano Ronaldo will NEVER be better than Messi!!!

Actually when you guys usually do the chatrooms I am at work, because of the different time zone here in Brazil. For example, when I wrotte to you the last message and ypu replied telling me about the chat, I had already gone to work and only saw your message later at night, dolik you understand?

About the news, I feel like i am developing, my friend, but i also feel that I have a huge road ahead of me to take before I can acomplish my goals as a guitar player... . I try to look to my present day task at hand and to not let myself be overwhelmed by the load of things that I have to learn and study and take each step at a time....

Well, I could use your help on that right hand muting that I have told you about.

Thanx again and looking forward to hear from you.

Sincerely

Ronaldo

yeah, I understand the time issue. It's difficult to find the best time for everybody since we have users from many different parts of the world.

Regarding the right hand muting, what lesson is giving trouble with that?

Don't worry. Of course I feel bad about not being able to participate of the chats, but, anyway, I have you guys to help me... biggrin.gif

Ok, I am talking about the open chords at the beginners' corner

here is the link:

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Beginn..._1_Open_Chords/

It seems that he uses a strumming that mutes the strings but it also seems that the left hand fingers are doing something to help out giving that muted sound... am I correct?

thanx for the help

yes, he mutes the string with the palm of his right hand but he also lift off the left hand fingers to mute the notes with them too... is it clear?
