Anyone using GUITAR RIG 5? I just started using it and it has one very strange feature where instead of amps, its just a bank of knobs that sort of randomize mics/cabs/delay/gain etc. it's handy for dialing in all sorts of tones without spending years dragging and dropping different rack modules and such. I"m using it for the COLLAB. Here is the patch and a pic.

awesome todd, I'm liking the sound of this, I used GR5 for the rhythm tracks. I hope my finger heals before the 15th or I might make an extension on the deadline as I put a heap of practice in to a solo for this and then just before I was ready to record it, Bang!!! finger in the grinder (*&#$^#*#RG)#@*GR#)*#@&$^G

Thanks wink.gif Give the patch for Guitar Rig 5 a shot and see what you think. The knobs that do several things at once is odd but handy smile.gif Maybe push back the date a bit to after the Holidays to give your hand time to heal? would a real shame not to have a take on your own Collab!

Todd

I had to record this in sections as sliding my finger is still out of the question so I have cheated a bit. I used GR5 solo maker and tweaked it a bit to my liking.

Really spif construction and playing on the arpeggios! Works perfectly. That solo maker is what I used as well. It's pretty handy for dialing in a quick sound. Much quicker than my usual build it bit by bit approach.

Sounds good Todd, thanks again for helping with trying to get this collab going.
I have decided to push the close until the 22nd Dec to give others a bit more time to get something recorded to this as I am aware that time is precious to many of us and a bit hard to come by.
I look forward to hearing the whole thing from you Todd. You're a beast of a player (that's a compliment too btw smile.gif

Thanks man! smile.gif This is really going to RAWK IMHO, I took inspiration from your solo actually in creating my own. Really dug what you did with it. You did it so well in fact, I stayed away from arpeggios entirely smile.gif Went with Pedal Point to add to the Baroque vibe you set up in your solo. Here is my entire bit with and without backing.

Here it is, my first attempt at a student collaboration. DeGroot is the first one to chop the head off Joffrey Lanisters shoulders with some powerful diads/triads and blistering speed slashes with the axe, lets call it the new king. I put my take next which was a pretty straight forward arpeggio combination lets call it poison in Tyrions soup. Last but not least, the man who helped me with putting this thing together, the shred master himself, Todd Simpson, it's like the aftermath of a great battle, beautifully constructed harmonies with a touch of hope for the future thrown in there as well, let's call it the bringer of hope.

Thanks to everyone who's listened and participated in this collaboration.

What I have learnt in this attempt is to make the next one shorter and to try and promote it a bit more.

Hope you all have a merry christmas and a happy new year.

Great job, this sounds really good. Like one big piece of music and not 3 peoples combined colaboration. Very cohesive, and flows well. Nice work everybody!!!

Nice going fellas! Great job! Sorry I couldn't make it sad.gif Got myself caught up in Christmas preparations and recording GMC lessons and I wouldn't've managed to come up with something good enough to fit the job description smile.gif But, BUT, there's always 'the next one', right?

This turned out really great! Both of your takes fit over this perfectly and really compliment each other. Your note choices with the arpeggios sound epic and Todd's ending solo is just magic.

Thanks Pat, for putting this collab together! The Lanister's should have headed for the hills while they had the chance. biggrin.gif

Absolutely there will be another one, I'm thinking 20-30 second backing track with a modal progression (which could mean anything smile.gif maybe phrygian. cool.gif
