Wel well. Neil is highly inspired those days biggrin.gif

Now that was nice Ricky! smile.gif I like You sense of melody. Only tip I could give here is Your take lacks a bit of colors. You ae able to create very touching melodies but You could sepnd some more time on polishing them. There are a lot of tools available

1. different vibrato speed and depth
2. Bend and prebens have a few different aproaches - different tempo, different rhythm of bending for example
3. Slides
4. Different picking strength

All those things add colos, important details that are hidden but makes the solo sound pros. If You have andy free time maybe You could add some extra flavour to You take? The melody is very good. It's not about changing notes. It's only about addin much more details to it smile.gif'

In blues it's not the numebr of the notes but the magic of articulation and dynamics which makes it so emotional and full of flavour smile.gif

Anyway well done smile.gif Very nice take smile.gif

Darius is right! And I think that your tone and note choice resemble Santana a lot! Which of course is a good thing biggrin.gif Keep Darius' suggestions in mind and I am sure you can really make this piece shine!

QUOTE (Sensible Jones @ Mar 27 2014, 09:08 PM) *
I wouldn't say I'm enjoying this one any more than the others but I've had a little more time to work on it than usual so, as you say, I've been able to be a bit more methodical. Also, on the others I didn't share my sketch takes to start with so I've enjoyed the feedback that that has brought.
And now I present the Sensible Slow One:-
https://soundcloud.com/neilwaller/gary-moore-sad-final-take
biggrin.gif

Hey Neil - I am glad you are finding the time to work on things man smile.gif Now, in the second half, things are a bit too static - alternating the note lengths should make a great difference, so my suggestion is to experiment with that idea and see what you get wink.gif

Ok, I tried something new for the middle part of my Gary Moore Tribute. It´s still not exactly the way I want it. Although the opening lick is going to stay!

https://soundcloud.com/jeroen-van-der-put/gmc-gary-moore-tribute-take3

I'm no instructor but i do like the beginning and end of your take qute a bit. That opening lick is really nice lol, and going back to fewer notes at the end is a good way to finish up. Tinker with the middle a little and your golden.

QUOTE (Caelumamittendum @ Mar 25 2014, 08:36 PM) *

Some constructive criticism? smile.gif

TURN ON A LIGHT!!!!!! wink.gif Seriously tho your take is very nice. I'm just starting to explore outside/chromatic notes, and your licks are what i want my licks to sound like soon lol.

Hey mate! I like the idea very much and the vibrato around 0:26 is very Michael Lee Firkins'ish - I'm a fan biggrin.gif

Towards the end tho, there's a tendency to barely reach the intended pitch so that's what I'd work on wink.gif

Thanks cosmin. Never heard of this Michael Lee character... going to youtube him up lol. Do you mean at the end of the solo my bends are off pitch, or do you mean consistently at the end of my bends i'm missing the mark?

Some of your bends had that sweet vibrato that MLF has smile.gif He is one of my favorite players, so that you know!

Hey mate smile.gif I think that it sounds nice, but I would put a little bit more rhythm behind the part around 0:18 - that one is not as definite as it could be smile.gif

Hey Ricky, I like your take! I think that the only thing you should pay a bit more attention to, would be bends such as the one around 0:34 which is a bit under the pitch wink.gif
