I just came home from the Airport, me and my band just came home from a festival that we performed on. Its called Slottsfjell festival. Lucky us got invited to warm up for Gorgoroth, with 1 more band aswell.
We even met Gaahl, their vocalist, really nice guy, it was sooooo fun. I will remember this trip for life.

I know I've seen atleast one Gorgoroth fan on this forum, so I know it wont be a total waste to write this! biggrin.gif

This was the first time Gorgoroth played in 2 years.
Before Gorgoroth started playing, they set up a big black blanket infront of the stage, we couldnt see anything. Me and my band mates were of course in front! biggrin.gif I think we waited for about 1.5 hours.
There was silence... Suddenly you could hear the drummer count with his High hat, and BAM! They released the big black carpet instant when they started the first song, it was freakin mindblowing!!
They had this really crazy concert in Italy once, with alot of blood and stuff, and people crucified upside down. I remember someone said that they kinda wanted to recreate that concert. They did not crucify anyone, but they had the whole freakin package!!! Around 20 sheep heads on stakes and alot of torches beetween, corpse paint, leather and spikes! Freakin unbelievable, it was soooo great. We were standing infront, headbanging like crazy!! It was SOOOOOOOO freakin good I cant describe it.
In the end one of the guitarists threw a sheep head to the audience, I touched it! biggrin.gif

The sound was freakin good, their playing was freakin good, everything was just a 100% perfect.
This is by far the best concert I've ever been to. Been on Iron Maiden twice, unfortunatly I sat far back, so I guess I cant compare it.

Edit: I forgot to mention that they played songs from every album except Pentagram(wich is a freakin great album). They played alot from the new album, but that doesnt matter, becuase every Gorgoroth album is as strong as the rest. Gorgoroths new album is amazing, even though its new! biggrin.gif:D

10/10!

This is not from the same performance, but it looks pretty much the same. Alot more torches on the concert I was on though biggrin.gif

Ah man I'm jealous Gorgoroth has become one of my favorite bands and their live shows are supposed to be extraordinary!

Who was drumming though? Because Kvitrafn left after Twilight of the Idols I think. Was is the same guy from the Carving A Giant video?

A German guy, I didnt catch his name though. Completely new drummer, they only had three rehearsals before this gig.

haha I love when Infernus plays that strat. I don't know why but it always looks out of place for some reason, same as that guy from Marduk who played a strat.

Did anyone see "Heavy Metal: A Headbangers Jounrey" when they interviewed Gaahl.

HA! It was Hilarious.

"So what is your music about"

Gaahl gently twirls his wine around in his cup for what seems forver, takes a sip and replys.

"...Satan..."

That dude is so creepy lol

His eyes are intense in those documentaries.

Like in the VBS.tv documentary where they went to his hometown of Espedal. He kept telling them to not be sheep and not look to him as a leader. So the reporter said something to Gaahl to which he responded that the interviewer wasn't asking the right questions and the interviewer said "Guide Me." and he just stopped entirely and stared past him for like 2 minutes haha. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Yeah he's kinda childish, I mean, they are REALLY into being totally black. But I think they are exaggerating alot just to keep their image going. He is a 100% regular guy in real life(some of them are criminals though, rape and violience, but apart from that Gorgoroth seems like a regular nice guys).

Personally I think dead sheeps, fires, spikes, leather and corpse paint is freakin cool! I LOVED their concert and the way they looked, most people thinks this is kinda childish though biggrin.gif There are very few bands like gorgoroth actually. Even if they might be a bit childish sometimes, their music is so unbelievable and they are amazing live.

Yeah.

Have you seen any Darkthrone interviews? They are so freakin funny. They totally make fun of themselfs and black metal, even though they feel so strong about the genre and the music they play.

are you saying they used dead sheep in their act? just have no respect for anyone who kills an animal for other than food, or if the animal is creating such a problem that you have no choice (and where trapping and release is not possible). even if the sheep was intended for food, this took it out of the food supply, so the animal died for nothing if that was the case. however, I am not sure if you are saying that.

on the music, some of these bands have a nice sound, and although not much in the way of variety generally. the vocals are nothing but comic relief, and will probably provide that for a decade or so.

i realize that i cannot change the world. just have no respect for anyone who kills an animal for other than food, or if the animal is creating such a problem that you have no choice (and where trapping and release is not possible).

even if the sheep was intended for food, this took it out of the food supply, so the animal died for nothing but somebody's demented entertainment. was not necessary.

on the music, some of these bands have a nice sound, and although not much in the way of variety generally. the vocals are nothing but comic relief, and will probably provide that for a decade or so.

I really doubt that they just kill alot of sheeps just for the gigs. Atleast I know that Mayhem just take leftovers from slaughter houses.

The music do got alot of variations. Great riffs and drum rythms etc., specially Gorgoroth. But some bands, like certain Darkthrone and Burzum albums are very simple. But thats black metal. Its about the feeling. But there are many different black metal bands of course.
About the vocals thats just a matter of opinion. I hated growling vocals about 3 years ago, now I LOVE it. Hmm I dont see how the vocals are comic though smile.gif I think Death metal vocals often are more silly, not everyone though. Opeth got freakin amazing vocals. I'm not that into death metal, but I really love some of the rather small death metal bands from Norway.

come on, they grunt. like wild hogs. come on, get real! this is worse than some of the rap. never thought i would see anything that awful. if they would just try to be a bit normal, and use that music in a better way, what most people consider sane, they might have something.

no excuse for this, if they took it out of the slaughter houses, the sheep died for entertainment, and I consider that highly immoral. it is immoral.

they have a nice sound, I admit that, just don't know the reason for the grunting, and some of the other stuff. what would mozart say? case closed.

The music is great aswell dude, it just takes a bit time to like it. I used to think black metal was just noise, now I can actually hear it. I mean, "Maniac" from Mayhem said something great: "Black metal is like opera. You got to train your ear to like it". I personally dont see whats so great about Opera, and its the same with people that cant stand black metal, kinda need to get used to it. It is one of the most extreme genres, so I totally understand that so many people dislike it biggrin.gif

But Gorgoroth are far more extreme on stage than any other black metal band. Most bands dont involve dead animals, just Mayhem and Gorgoroth as far as I know. But I personally love it when its freakin extreme live. I can see whats wrong with killing animals ONLY for entertaining, but I dont know if they actually do that or if they just use left overs.
