Oh well - great for Halloween but know way to play in this, even after cutting the eyes out. I love the look though - reminds me of Maynard James Keenan

Tell me about that wah in your tone? I've been thinking of that, is there just a Wah effect that is not engaged with a pedal?

Sure smile.gif This is just a patch done with my former LOVE GUITAR RIG 4. Part of what it offered was the "Auto Wah" as a rack unit. IIt was a great bit of the kit imho. I still love my Hoton Mini wah, but sometimes, what you are playing works best when the wah takes care of itself. Most modern plugins have an auto wah and many processors offer it as well. Purists will give it a bad rap of course, but I'm NOT a purist so I really dont' care smile.gif

Sweet, so is there an analog wah foot pedal that is auto-wah depending on what you are playing? I want a Carbon Copy to replace my DD3 so I wouldn't mind looking into something like that as well. Most the time I use my Morley wah just to engage sustain.

Nevermind I found one

MXR makes a a killer analogue auto wah. It doesn't take batteries and uses it's own power cable as it sucks a lot of juice to make all that tone. You can get one used for about $65

I fear you may be getting a bit distracted by various gear and masks Soldier. I'm all for gear and masks but you gotta push through and badge up!! These first few lessons are things you could play in your sleep. So it won't take long til you are past mission 20 and getting in to the really spiff stuff. Dig in Soldier and head for your next Mission Badge!!

Oh man - trust me I am playing at least 2 hours a day now - it's my morning routine again.

Working on 4 songs all in different tunings, so different guitars for each song. I really like that because it is forcing me not to have a favorite and to get use to different feels.

Okay - going for the badges now - I needed to mask first I think - priorities you know.

POST MORTEM

These first few missions are really just designed to get you used to the process and get you started down the long and winding road of GLORY! After watching your Mission Vid several times, I did notice that you are very nearly heading toward the carddinal sin of 'Picking from the Elbow" this is something that feels very natural at speed. However, it's something I specifically train Soldiers to avoid as it actually reduces long term pick efficacy and endurance. You will notice that you get a bit of a burning sensation in your arms after a while, and you will notice your accuracy will decline after extended use of this technique.

My first suggestion is to try to pick from the fingers back, not the elbow forward. In other words, slow down a bit and focus on moving the pick with only your finger and thumb. Then add a bit of wrist motion. Don't let the motion go beyond your wrist. Videoing yourself is the best way to see how you are doing. If you notice your arm is stiff in the video, then you still have work to do. Focus on the fingers. Remember, speed is a byproduct of precision. Your thumb and finger can provide plenty of precision. When Watch my picking hand in this recent collab with Ben. Notice how my right arm/hand is not tense and looks sort of relaxed. I'm not using much right hand pressure at all, despite playing at speed. My hand doesn't tense. That is the first sign that you have left the rifle range. If you feel your hand tensing. Stop playing. Relax and begin again focusing only on your picking. Take your left hand off the neck. Just pick and relax. This takes time and you have many missions ahead to work on it. Onward!!

BEYOND THE MISSIONS:
Give my SUNDAY SHRED CHALLENGE a try. It's just acoustic guitar. Try to use some alt picking in G Major. Try to articulate using just your thumb and finger. Don't worry about speed. Doing the weekly challenge to let you use your Mission skills in Music is the perfect compliment to the Missions themselves.

BINGO - you hit the nail on the head there.

I'm making a promise to myself to do this exercise a few times a day forever, until it's blistering fast, notes clear and crisp and no elbow is used.

So - forever starts here...

Good form Soldier!! You are Ready for MISION 2! These are all designed to train your hand in to proper form. As you go, you will pick up warmup licks and drills that encourage the hand to proper position. Dive in to the next Mission!

That looks great! But it doesn't look like mission 2? Misison 2 is very simple. Here is a direct. Link. P.S. All the links are one one page. bit.ly/twtgmc. Here is MISSION 2!

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/wiki/inde...0%9D_-_Lesson_2

It seems like you may be playing ahead soldier! Be patient and try to stick to the MISSION ROSTER if possible! It will get you where you want to go!!!

Here is the video example for Mission 2. Just a two finger drill for now. Patience Soldier!!
