Friend is selling one used and was very nice to let me try it. It emulates the clean channel of a Fender amp+has very vesatile connection options. I didn't try the connections much as my focus was how it performend at the end of a pedal chain.

-As a clean preamp, its really not bad at all as you can feel some compression you'd get just like using a real amp. Can get some dirt but I'm not a fan, the slight OD doesn't sound very good with my TS9 as normally it would be perfect with a real amp.

-The eq's do remind me of a Fender, not super versatile but nice for balancing.

-The cab. sim. is what let me down. You can hear a change in the mid.s but I guess the cut-off freq. is too high to get a bigger sound (ment to be used with distortion). Even when the high eq rolled down and mid.s up, the treble can be problematic with od/dist. The eq on my dist. pedal didn't help much either.

-Finally a big plus is its very silent, compared with plug-ins and performend very good.

If the cab. sounded good enough I'd buy it but if I'm going to use another cab. sim. after it then the tech 21 character series makes more sense as you can get way more tones from them. Let me know if anyone has any questions, I'll return it tuesday.

Can you turn the cab sim off and use it into an audio interface with an IR plugin?

Yeah, with an ir its sounds much better and even less noise as its cab. sim. lowers the signal output when engaged (cause of the decreased mid.s).

But the thing is it kind of defeats the purpose for me, since its clean not much advantage compared to plug-in amps. Thats why to me tech 21 stuff are better.

What it would work nice though if you invest another amt pedal, since it has a channel switch then you can go between those 2 pedals with the F1's switch alone. Its also the reason it has send/return inputs for reverb etc. ...

But f1 + another amt (for drive) + a cab. sim. pedal...same price of a relatively good amp biggrin.gif
