I've been using the Axe Fx Ultra since 2008 and a few years ago sold my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and my pedal board to fund my pc.

I am now in a situation where I want to have a light weight solution for playing in a new church.

I have a Blackheart Lil Giant (5W amp) that should have enough headroom and I still have an original Marshall Guv'nor

I guess I need a delay or two, a chorus, Tremelo and maybe a boost (I could use my volume control though)

What are some cheap but solid choices to look at?

Seems either mini sized pedals or a 2-3 footswitch processor will work for you for portability.

For stage I dig processor not for sound but avoiding the tap dance smile.gif seems 150 to 200 dollar processors should do the trick.

For pedals last one I remember demoing was an ibanez chorus, not bad but wasn't great. I always get the feeling something is sacreficed to make a pedal smaller...mooer is always favored for the price.

Hi mate, there are many options.

Tc Electronics Flashback is one of the best delays out there and there is a mini version.

Good chorus + delay: http://truetone.com/v3-series/h20/

If you need anything cheaper, I recommend trying these ones: https://youtu.be/3rREyC44GFY . They also have tremolo and chorus. I have the delay and works great for the money.

Regarding more expensive options, you won't get wrong with Strymon pedals: http://www.strymon.net/

And another solution could be this killer one: https://www.eventideaudio.com/products/stom...ct-processor/h9

It seems like you could just use the AXE FX? Is there any reason you want to try to build a new rig instead of just using the axe fx? You could run it in to your small amp or you could just go direct and skip using an amp all together right?

But if you don't want to take the axe fx to church, I"m with MERTAY! you may want to look at some sort of multi pedal as it's a very cheap way to get all the fx you are looking for and a control board thrown in with it. Even the low cost BOSS unit that keeps coming up (GT1) would be a decent choice for a church gig. You don't need crazy gain and it's not a pricey unit and it's one piece and you still wouldn't need an amp. Run direct, done. Costs about $200 which is what you'd pay for a few decent pedals that you are considering buying. As a bonus you don't have to use batteries or buy a separate power supply.

However, sometimes, it's just fun to buy new gear, new pedals, etc. Even if you don't really need it. if that's more or less it, then it's just limited to your budget of course on what pedals you want. smile.gif

The main reason for not using the Axe Fx which I used for years in my old church is to have a cheap set up I can leave in the storage space they have. It's a fairly small church and going direct isn't much of an option here.
As for the cheap processor route I think it's be quite nice to have a simple pedal board just to be different and to tweak on the fly etc.

I'm not sure if the 5W lil Giant will have enough headroom for this though so I'm still in the thinking stage.

I don't know what you exactly mean by cheap, but the cheaper stuff is the chinese Joyo, Mooer and Biyand. You should try them first, but there is some good stuff from them.

You gave some nice options Gab, I wish I could get the H9 that does look very interesting.

Makes sense smile.gif Don't want to leave the Axe fx just laying about. I wouldn't either. Even in a church. Too small for a direct setup means yup, you'll need your own amplification. Also yeah, having a pedal board is fun smile.gif It's just plain, oldschool, fun. Probably why I went back to having one wink.gif

5W is very small output for a live gig. So yeah, probably use the amp you mentioned already having. So just some fx then? Back to budget. What's your range for each pedal? or cap for each pedal I should say? That will narrow things a bit.

The H9 is top notch bit of kit. However, it's NOT cheap. Costing about 500 U.S. just by itself. Then you pay for extra patches on top of that. It comes with a basic set and then they get the money you would have spent on the pricier version of it by charging you for new presets. But still, it's a great sounding unit that's studio quality and you can use on anything. Vocals, any instrument, etc.

P.S. Have you tried any chorus/delay pedals? I had one and it was really cool. Let you have a chorus effect built in to the delay with a separate footswitch to enable modulation.
