There are lots of great, late guitar players, and I'll let other folks mention them.

At the moment, my favorite late great guitar hero has to be Eric Roche.



His arrangements are amazing, and his use of guitar percussion is one of the coolest things i've ever seen (he was able to re-create the scratching of a Dj's turntable).
