  • HI GMC and welcome to lesson 2 of the 'Introducing Barre Chords' course.

In this lesson we build on the E and A shape barre chords we learned in the first lesson by adding the 7th to each shape. The 7's come in the form of Major 7's, Minor 7's and Dominant 7's.

Luckily for us guitarist this means we will often take away a finger to create the new chord. This still adds a new note but the note is played by the barring finger.

Similar to in lesson 1 we take a laid back approach with our strumming so we can focus on nailing the shapes and getting to each chord easily.

I hope you enjoy this lesson and find the backing engaging for your practice. Remember to have fun and take regular breaks to allow your hand to get used to these new grips.

    Chord progression:

    | C#m7 | B | Amaj7 G#m7 | F#m7 G#7 | x2

    | C#m7 | Emaj7 | Amaj7 G#m7 | F#m7 G#7 | x2

    Gear used:

For this lesson I was using a MusicMan Cutlass Sterling guitar with a torex orange pick (.60mm) plugged straight into Logic Pro via a Scarlett 2i2 using a Bias FX Amp (tosin abasi clean/crunch setting)
