  • Hi GMC-ers!

It's time for a rockin' hard blesy solo here!

About a year ago a friend of mine asked me to join his rock band. He had some really cool songs, he wanted to make a record and he needed a rockin' guitarist that can lay down some devastating Zakkish bluesy solos. I'm glad that he chose me to do the job :)

This solo is in the first song of the record. I wanted to do my best at this song, so this is what I came up with.

Basically the solo could be divided into two parts. The first is a sort of an intro that builds up the solo, and the second is where the runs are. The beginning of the solo starts with a pedal-steelish-bend, so typical for a bluesy solo. A wide vibrato follows to releace the intensity a bit. After a few bluesy licks comes a double string bend that really adds up to the lead. Another bluesy lick follows, and I added a typical Zakk Wylde kinda lick to the end of it. The second part of the solo begins with a strig skipping bluesy pattern, and the last two ending runs are a 3 notes per string blues scale run ended by a string skipping lick.

In this lesson we will use the following techniques:

    Pedal-Steelish-Bends

    Wide Vibratos

    Bends

    Slides

    Staccato

    Legato

    String Skipping

    Have fun practicing!
