  • This solo illustrates lots of different fusion/shred techniques. With a slight blues influence, it uses chicken picking, chromatics, sweeping, tapping, one-note-per-string arpeggios and legato!

Harmonically, this solo is super-simple - the bass plays one note: A . Really, that's it - with the exception of an occasional lick played in unison with the guitar. However, the rhythm of the backing is quite complex - fortunately, as guitarists we don't need to worry to much about that. -> Just make sure to stomp your foot in a constant tempo! The harmonies of the second part will be discussed in a follow-up to this lesson.

Important: This lesson has both simple passages - as well as some technically complex licks, just like most other gmc lessons. However, you don't need to nail every single lick in order to benefit from this lesson. In fact, if you are a beginner at solo guitar, and manage to nail just a single one - you have taken a huge step. (Let us know about your progress in the forum and we will praise you! )

Oh and I have got a name for the solo: Map My Gap - I just liked the sound of it!
