General Information

Original Author: Audiopaal

Weapon: Compression Sustainer Stomp Box

Make: Boss

Model: Boss Cs-3

Price: I bought this pedal new for 100 USD, in a local store home in Norway.

Ease of use

4 Knobs – Level, Tone, Attack and Sustain. You'll need to spend some time with it, and your ears will tell you what sounds good and what doesn't. The manual gives you a few different settings as starting points though, which is nice. This pedal can be tricky if you dont know what your doing or what you want to acheive.

Sound Quality

After a good bit of tweaking, I am pretty happy with the sound. It does add a tiny amount noise when using distortion but really sounds great while clean. Other people have complained about it being noisy, but I haven’t had a problem with it myself. It takes some twisting of the knobs to get a good sound. I had to spend time with it in order to get the compression/sustain ratio I wanted, but I’m happy with it now Works really well with my Gibson Chet Atkins SST, with the piezo to get a nice sound.

Reliability

Again, it’s BOSS so do whatever you want with it and when you’re through, plug it in and play

Overall rating

The value of this pedal depends on what you expect it to do, but its a very cheap and useful tool. If this one broke or got stolen, I'd go out and try some other compressor pedals before deciding to buying this one again. But all in all it is a very good pedal.
