Sound: 10 Well my friends, I am about to introduce you to one of the most unique bands of all time, Death. With riffs that no band could stand toe-to-toe with, Heavy, Fast, Relentless, and most of all, Catchy and Creative. Chuck is without a doubt one of my most coveted musicians, And possess an ability to write riffs, solos and lyrics like no other.

Guitar: 10 Amazing, Chucks riffs are some of the best the Metal world has ever seen, And "Human" contains so many riffs that are perfect. No one song on here is "Ok", every song is Phenomenal. Chucks unparalleled Alternate Picking technique allows him to write some of the fastest and heaviest riffs you'll hear. Despite being know for there heavy riffs, Death do have the slower interludes in a few songs, like the beginning of "Lack Of Comprehension" and "Cosmic Seas". These melodies are wonderful, they take you to a different world, Chuck knows how to speak another language with his music. And lastly, the SOLOS!! Man, like i mentioned before, Chuck's alternate picking technique cannot be matched, this allows him to play extremely fast licks with precision, and his sweeps are insane, some times as fast has Cooley or Batio. His melodies once again shine here, and the harmonies sound amazing, no one can touch Chuck, his style is truly original, and his trade-offs with Paul Masvidal are reminiscent of the kinda duels you would hear on a Megadeth album.. Lastly, i must mention, his tone, Flabbergasting, never heard anything like it.

Bass: 10 Steve Digiorgio, the bass player for this album, is an amazing bass player. His counter-melodies compliment Chuck and Paul so well. Whether he be shredding along side Chuck and Paul, or supporting the whole bad with a beautiful solo or fill, His playing adds just one more element to this band that cannot be described as anything but awesome.

Drums: 10 Sean Reinert is probably one of the best drummers you'll hear in Metal. His drum sound is one of the few drum sounds i can pick out by ear. his grooves are fantastic, his Gatling Gun Double-Bass are amazing, and his overall technique and performance add another level of "Heavy" to this album. Sean is a master of his craft.

Vocals: 10 Some of you might not like Chucks vocals, high screams with a raspy sound, nothing new to the common Death-Metaller, but to a new fan, it will probably need some adjusting. Nevertheless ive always been a fan of it (well not 'always', but for the last 5 years i have been ). They are very aggressive and In Your Face. They reveal a man with a burning passion, and he shows us that passion on this album.

Lyrics: 10 Early on his career, Chuck's writing was mainly gore based. I like that kinda stuff, but as Death and Chuck progressed, so to did his lyrics, changing from gore based to writing about such subjects as life, personal experiences, and reality.

From "Suicide Machine"

Controlling their lives Deciding when and how they will die A victim of someone else's choice The ones who suffer have no voice Manipulating destiny When it comes to living, no one seems to care But when it comes to wanting out Those with power, will be there Prolong the pain How long will it last? Suicide machine A request to die with dignity Is that too much to ask? Suicide machine How easy it is to deny the pain Of someone else's suffering

From "Secret Face"

There is a mask That covers up one's true intentions Once removed, things become very clear Analyze behavior patterns to see beneath The person that is presented to you Vulnerable through trust Life is a twisted maze of obstacles Presented by people with a secret face

What's on the outside Is not always all that is real Live by caution, what I feel When things are reversed People are shown for what they are The truth is revealed Banish the false Pacifying moments with an acquired disguise to obtain The things they want By the anguish of someone alse Materialistic motives are fulfilled Cherich the true Vulnerable through trust Life is a twisted maze of obstacles Presented by people with a secret face

From "Lack Of Comprehension"

A condeming fear strikes down Things they cannot understand An excuse to cover up weaknesses that lie within Lies Laying your guilt and pain On people that had no part in the molding of a life That creates its destruction Lies Right before your very eyes A reflection of the mistakes To the end you will deny Your part in the demise of a life Lack of comprehension Thriving on your cliche Compelled by self-resentment

Reaching into the minds of those that created The depression in which they In which they drowned their flesh and blood Lies So easy to blame the Everlasting fear on a pathetic attempt To justify the ending of life Lies Right before your very eyes A reflection of the mistakes To the end you will deny Your part in the demise of a life Lack of comprehension Thriving on your cliche Compelled by self-resentment

Overall Impression: 10 An awesome album full of heavy riffs, fast riffs, melodic riffs, dueling solo's, beautiful interludes, excellent lyrical writing and an outstanding feat of musicianship. This is my favorite Death album, my most cherished one, and its one of the best albums you could possibly hear.
