Introduction
Guthrie Govan is one of the top-players that has came around in the past ten years, and is a highly appreciated player amongst guitarists. He also does a lot of teaching/masterclasses as well as concerts with his own band. If You ever wondered where his skills came from, this is THE book to read. Very soon You will realize that his fame is not solely built on an extraordinary talent, but also on hard work and a deep knowledge.

This book features a lot of text, where Guthrie reveals a lot of secrets and unveils some mysteries in the art of guitar playing, as well as sharing his own experience in an entertaining way. (Yeah, at least I READ it all.... it will take some time and effort to really master the examples) Also a CD is included with sound samples of the examples in the book. The book is the first in a serie, which by now has reached the third book. I strongly encourage everyone to start with this one, no matter which level You are playing wise, since it really gives some insight that is crucial to all players, regardless of style.
What I found enjoying is that Guthrie starts the book with the fact that many players he met know how to play Steve Vai's solo's note by note - but could'nt improvise over a 12 -bar blues, because of all information out there nowadays. They simply started in the wrong spot. (in fact I discussed just this matter in a thread in the forum, the risk with over-information will lead to just confusion) He also has a very relaxed attitude to music and discusses attitudes and philosophy with a great amount of metamorphosises, that will make the reader understand what he really means.
