Hi Jesse. The chords from the chorus are (Bm - G - A - D - Bm - G - A). Play the progression over the song and try to identify the chords. The chorus uses the same chords but in a different order, maybe you could try to discover it.

Okay I think the order of the chords in the chorus is G-D-A-Bm-G-A-Bm.
And were the verse chords Bm-A-Em-F#m ? -------------------- Never miss an opportunity to play

The correct progression for the chorus is: G - D - A - E - G - A - Bm - A. There were some differences with the verse's chords...

It is so discouraging and depressing how bad my ear is. Okay I will give the verse chords another shot and see if I can get them right. don't worry mate! your ears just need some training and that's what we are doing here. -------------------- My lessons

Okay I took another stab at the verse and I think I got Bm - A - EM - D . not exactly, the verse is Bm - G - A - D. Again, please don't worry about this. One thing that really helps is to get a chords book from any of your favourite bands and play over the songs concentrating on the the sound of each chord. I used to do this for many hours every day when I was starting to play. There are also many software for Ear Training that are free like this one: http://www.trainear.com/ -------------------- My lessons

Ok, so now let's give shape to this:
Name of the song: Someday Name of the band: Nickelback Structure // What is happening? // Chords & Scales Structure: You will divide the tune in Intro - Riff - Verse - Prechorus- - Chorus - Solo - Part C and so... You can add the letters A, B, C to the sections when you find different ones in the same tune (Ex: Verse A, Verse B, Chorus, Solo A, Solo . what is happening?: Here you will describe each part. You can explain how is the part, if it has vocals, screams, melodies, harmonizations, how much is last, how many measures, etc. Every information that could be useful to understand the part. Chords & Scales: Here you will post the tonality, the chord progression and the scales used for the melodies and solos. -------------------- My lessons

Great job man! I recommend you to save this analysis and keep on doing the same thing with as many songs as you like/can. You will start noticing what are the structures, progressions, ways of arranging most used in your favorite songs and this will give you tools to work on your own compositions. One thing that really helps me to understand the progressions used is to also write the progression in roman numbers. That would make easier to understand exactly the relationship between chords. Let's start with another song now.
Are you working on the technique exercises? how is it going? -------------------- My lessons
