I love MAB, has made some really great tunes and some kickass instructional videos.. but still, when he starts with those fancy moves, i cant help but think that it's mostly advanced partytricks, well, partytricks that most of us will never be able to do
But it serves no real purpose to the music.. Still really entertaining to look at though

Well, except that Rick Nielson of Cheap trick was doing that stuff (hand on top of the guitar, playing a 5 neck guitar, and jumping around at the same time). So it is not original.

I understand that standards have risen in the past 25-30 years, but Nielson was more of a showman that Batio could ever be. I mean, the guy dressed up like a 1940's movie serial character (Satch of the Bowery Boys).

While one of the better guitarists of his time, he also had the good sense to hook up with 3 guys who could share the spotlight with him, and so his band became well known, while just about nobody has heard of Batio in the general public.

As did Jimmy Page (who when he hooked up with Zep was the most in demand studio guitarist in Britain). But he had the good sense to join a band and be part of something bigger, otherwise he would have been forgotten before anybody had even heard of him.

Batio is skilled, but he does nothing that adds a thing to what say Gilbert does, so I don't bother with him.
