I figured I had advanced as far as I could with my Air Guitar, so one day I took off work early and went bought a Squire Affinity and Peavy Vypyr.
Five months later, and now I have an ESP LTD EC1000 VB, a Schecter 7 string, a Vox VT15, and a Vox AC1.
I plan on exchanging the 7 string for a Schecter C1 Custom, cause that 7 string is just too much guitar for me right now.
But, I'm dumb-founded by how addicted to guitars I have become. They are just so neat looking.
I'm also donating the Squire and Peavy Vypyr amp to a local shelter for abused kids. Getting it was one of the greatest things that has happened to me (it literally changed my lifestyle), and now being able to pass it on is a bonus.
Very cool! Guitars really are beautiful things! I'm really wanting a PRS guitar, (and yes, partially because they look sooooo good) but I don't know if I can justify the price tag on them.
Also its very awesome that you donated your first guitar and amp to a shelter. That is inspiring. Well done!

I guess my story is pretty similar to Bear's: I finally asked for lessons because of a cool friend who supposedly knew how to play. However, there's a little more to it:
- I've actually owned a guitar longer than I can remember. I don't know when this busted old classical guitar showed up in my childhood bedroom but it seemed like it was "always there." I'd sit it flat on my lap and play whatever sounded good to me, even though the thing only had three strings on it. I assume this is why, long after, I was always told by musicians that I have "good rhythm"
- I've always loved making things. Building (legos, blocks), drawing, painting, writing, music, programming, whatever. If there was an instrument nearby, I would certainly want to play it even if I was too shy to ask. If it was a guitar, I was less willing since it was a thing to pick up and hold. A piano, on the other hand, seemed less rude to just sit down and play upon.
After relating all of that, I'm going to have to telephone my mother and ask if she remembers where that old guitar came from. I hope she can recall because it's really making me curious now.
I had a cheap cowboy toy guitar when I was young. Never really played it, but it looked cool and I always had it. Our stories seem to be growing more alike! Haha.
It would be very cool to know where that guitar did come from. If you find out, let us know!
