Take it to guitar repair shop, let them put new strings, and do a setup. Tell them about the problem and what you want to be fixed. If they don't get it fixed, then don't give them the money.

Old strings have MUCH less sustain than newer strings. This is because metals become stiffer and more brittle the more times they elongate then return to normal (for example every single time you pluck the string). This is also why bridges are under-designed more often than not because most engineers forget that cyclical loading lowers steels yield strength over time even if the loading is only a fraction of what the steel can handle. If you haven't changed the strings yet do that and don't take it to the shop until you do (why waste money?).
Also, as far as paint and stickers are concerned just put whatever you want on the guitar man. It's yours so have fun with it! Personally, I like my guitars clean from stuff but otherwise who cares? If you don't care about the longevity of your guitar finish then it doesn't really matter. But if I paint on the body, won't the paint go off? I'm afraid the paint won't stick to the finish enough... @ fatb0t: Ibanez VBT700... It has no active pick-ups. Thanks again for all the answers! This proves again that GMC is a wonderful place! Thanks for the love man! If you use an Enamel paint it should stick no problem. If you are looking to paint the entire guitar I suggest fine sanding it first, then spraying a high quality automotive grade paint to the entire body followed by 1 or more clear coats. The more clear coats the glossier the look. If you just wanna make it ugly like Van Halen's Frenkenstein then don't worry about what paint you use. And be sure to involve ducktape and markers as well Hardtail This post has been edited by Hardtail: Jan 10 2008, 02:52 AM -------------------- Beginner's Amp & Guitar Gear Guide My Keeley Blues Driver BD-2 Review My Line6 Flextone II Review Guitars: Martin D-16RGT with B-Band UST & '99 Fender "Big Apple" Hardtail HH Strat Amps: Fender Blues Junior Special Edition & Fender Studio 85 (Simultaneous... yummy) |
