Sad news indeed. Great drummer and far to young to pass. No cause of death released yet, but it doesn't really matter how.

Here he is doing his thing. This song has 55 Million views. Nice legacy smile.gif

My bad. Fixed it. Thanks Phil.
I just read that he was suffering from chest pains.

"On Saturday, the District Secretary of Health in Colombia confirmed in a press release that the drummer, 50, died in the town of Chapinero after suffering chest pains at his hotel."

Yeah they think it's drug related, he says a bit of a party animal, when he was younger, he took the" live fast die young" thing very literally.

The more we hear, the more it looks that way. That's too bad.
I just saw this from a press release coming out of Columbia.

“Preliminary results of the urine toxicology test indicate the presence of 10 different substances: THX (Marijuana), tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, and opioids, among others,” the statement said.

I'm starting to wonder if it was suicide.

We will never know sadly. It could have been just too many years of drug use piling up. He was not an old man, but he was not a young man any more either and to have 10 different "substances" in the blood at the same time is dangerous for just about anyone. He was also in the powder capital of the world which could have led to even more substances. He was on antidpressants so he could have intended or not intended to kill himself resulting from depression. then again he could have just been self medicating and took it too far.

The lead singer of quiet riot died in a non to different way. The lead singer of warrant drank himself to death, but we don't know if he was just in the grip of alchoholism or trying to kill himself. Chris Cornell also comes to mind. So many talented folks who died way before their time.

This is so sad. FF is one of my favorite rock bands and Taylor is my favorite rock drummer. His energy, charisma and performances were very inspiring. I'll miss him a lot.

Last show in Argentina (some days ago)

I doubt it was a suicide.
He overestimated his ability to deal with multiple substances.
A lot of rockers think that they're Keith Richards.
They're not.

Yeah, it's very sad when younger musicians die (or middle aged of course). I've said before that when musicians in their older age (80+ years maybe) die, it's sad but also expected - and already expected that we'd be hearing less and less music from them. Taylor, however, was around 50, I think.

I never listened much to Foo Fighters. When I started listening to "heavier" music, it was Nirvana, then Alice in Chains and later on a bit of Pearl Jam, who have since grown more on me. This was back around 2002 or so. I learned that Dave Grohl now played in Foo Fighters, and I listened to them a bit back then in 2002, but I always felt they were "too pretty" compared to the raw style Nirvana had. Times like These and All my Life was popular around that time. I think their earlier albums was a bit more "raw" though.

These days I enjo "prettier" music of course - in the way that Dream Theater, Haken and progressive metal bands can be pretty. I don't enjoy that "completely raw" (like Nirvana) sound much. At least I have to be in a mood for it. So maybe I'd enjoy Foo Fighters more now smile.gif

Fantastic performance, and very touching. What a show that was, some fantastic acts. It was kind of cool to see Wolfie VH rip us some ax.

He truly did his father proud. He was attacking the skins like an animal!!

It's very sad when musicians overdose on drugs and pass away far younger than he should have. With all of those substances in his system, it looks like he was dancing on the edge. Addiction is a disease and it has to be treated as one or people just die. I wish he would have sought help. For famous people, being told NO isn't a thing sometimes. it seems that these stories of overdose deaths are coming in a steady fashion. I pray folks ask for help when they need it.
