Hello,

So I am currently double majoring in both Audio/Video Communications as well as Music Recording Technology and in order to gain experience I was wondering if anyone would like me to Mix/Master a project of theirs for free?

In order to receive my Associates degree and transfer for Music Recording I must have a portfolio (mine is currently very small) unsure.gif

It would be up to 12 Audio Tracks (there is room to negotiate) - completely free, so that I can gain experience as well as possibly build a portfolio.

I can also do MIDI sampling if needed (choirs, strings, synths, etc)

This is my latest project as I'm sure most of you have heard:

Feel free to ask any questions and many thanks to anyone whom may be interested smile.gif

That's very kind of you Chris, my stuff isn't up to part but I'm sure someone will have something for you.

Thanks, Phil!

I'm not promising industry leading quality as I am still in school for this - it can even be a project that has already been completed and mastered.

I know my final result wouldn't be anything near what Gab could do - but I wouldn't mind giving it a shot to at least compare tongue.gif

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Don't forget, Gab was at your level once. I guess there's nothing stopping you downloading all of the files and having a go, I'm sure Gab and Kris won't mind an alternative take, even if it is only audio, unless you want to take the video route too cool.gif

No way, Gab was always great biggrin.gif

The biggest thing with that though isn't that I would just be mixing everything, I would also have to cut all the takes and glue them together to form a cohesive layout - might be a little beyond my current creativity level laugh.gif

Nothing ventured nothing gained wink.gif Maybe Gab, if you asked him nicely, would give you the edited piece before he mixes/masters it? I don't really know how it works but it's worth sending him a PM, I'm sure he will help smile.gif

Maybe you could offer to MASTER the final project even if you don't play on it? I'd encourage you to make a take, but at the very least you could always offer to master the result for your portfolio smile.gif Very nice of you to offer to master projects for folks! What are you using for mastering software currently?

Todd

A collab would be a nice experience, matching all the guitars, vocal...its not very common outside GMC.

I'd also say search songwriting/production forums on web, I'm sure you'll find something if you ask nicely tongue.gif biggrin.gif

12 tracks you say....so...drums only ?biggrin.gif Just a balck joke smile.gif If you want something impressive in your portfolio, you will need to accept more tracks. Remember that sometimes raw tracks are recorded not so well, so even experienced mixing guy would not be able to make it sound as good as expected (without re-sampling/triggering or rerecording some parts on his own). More track also mena...more control for you to edit. For example multiple guitar tracking (mic + line out + cab simulated output) will give you several ways to get wat you want in the final mix smile.gif
