It is hard sometimes to define shred, and it does seem to me that the term has become almost negative in some cases..

Nice Article, I like his point of view. I also believe that the people that say shred is not musical have somewhat of a valid argument, sometimes we do sacrifice musicality for speed. But sometimes a solo calls for it, judging when to do it is the hard part.
