After this post https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...c=62408&hl= I had an awakening about the band Cast, I always knew about them but they weren't really my cup of tea in the early 90's, I was into Ozzy etc.

I've been looking at lots of their history, and "discovered" that John Power was the bass player in The La's and also wrote and sung with them.

I found this interview with John Power and Lee Mavers, I find it intriguing watching them, John is so into it and Lee has an enigmatic style to him, he even sings the lead guitar solo. It's great when, while being interviewed, Lee is tapping out the rhythm for the song they're going to play and goes right into it cool.gif

I find this one of the most raw and evocotive "unplugged" performances I've seen.

What do you think? I've put some other La's and Cast stuff below too but check out both The LA's and Cast. I love it when I "discover" stuff that wasn't really on my radar at the time cool.gif The last video is more recent (2016) Cast playing one of their classics.

Yeah, who can forget them, I always thought of them as a bit of a novelty act whereas looking at John Power and Lee Mavers, for want of a better term they seem more of the "muso" ilk. John Power is still fronting Cast to this day, very talented songwriter as is Lee Mavers but I don't know what he's doing at the moment.

I just love the way they perform Timeless Melody there, the intense Lee Mavers and the happy go lucky John Power, great contrast, obviously there is that cockiness that lads have at that age but it's a great watch imho.

I never like Cast but I was a fan of The La's, and I think you hit the nail on the head, Cast were far too happy for me, I'm a depressing bastard

Id actually no heard the original version of the song. Or at least i don't remember it. My first hearing was the cover version done by SIX PENCE NONE THE RICHER. The singer has a perfect voice for it smile.gif
