Smells is spot on - being helpful, friendly and nice to others is a big bonus as perhaps is contributing something 'more', ie what can you do which might add extra value.

Sending me music related stuff like guitars and amplifiers and such won't be to your disadvantage.
Stuff like beer or a bottle of nice rhum is likely to get the same effect. Plain money is booring, but it works too.
