With Vinod's "Full Band Hindustani Style" lesson - we felt it was time to finally put together a "traditional" category on the guitar lessons page.

>>Check it out!

I think that one aspect of GMC that deserves more attention is the fantastic blend of cultures we have got - and more importantly the killer lessons/music this results in! To my ears - nothing is more fresh then when I get to hear a music style that has never been on the radio/TV/other media here in Sweden. It makes me realize what a huge topic music is.

If you combine the possibilities of a young instrument such as the electric guitar with the vast musical heritage of the world - anything is possible.

If your goal is to come up with a playing style unique to you - then you have a new place to search for inspiration! smile.gif

That's  very cool. biggrin.gif

I feel very excited as my lesson was one reason to open this new catagory.  smile.gif

I'm amazed that what a music taste  and what a great attitude for the music you have apart from being a great guitar player!

I also enjoy the music styles that I haven't heard before  smile.gif

You rock Kris !

Fantastic.

I remember watching a documentary with Steve Vai, where he is explaining the music on one of his albums where he spent time studying some country's wedding music. He had to approach the phrasing of his playing so differently.

When I'm home I'll see if I can find the video. It's very interesting.

Hungarian I think - that video has some awesome improvisations!

Much of Marty Friedman's style comes from him stealing licks from some radio channel with exotic/traditional music I think! smile.gif
