Mastering Pentatonic Scale Theory Welcome to the learning pentatonic scales page at GMC run by yours truly, The Professor. The lessons on this page are geared towards helping you build a strong understanding of each of the various pentatonic scales, how they are built, how they are related and how they relate to chords and arpeggios when writing songs or soloing over chord changes. If you are completely new to pentatonic scales, at least from a theoretical perspective, you should start with the first two articles in the list below. Then, feel free to move on to each scale in the list, keeping in mind that you can always return to this page for a refresher on a previous scale or lesson to keep your pentatonic scale theory chops sharp at all times. If you have covered this material already in your musical development, then feel free to browse each lesson as a refresher, or to fill in any gaps you have in your understanding of the pentatonic scales, how they are built and how to apply them to your guitar playing and song writing. Feel free to bookmark this page as more lessons will be added regularly, and as always if you have any questions post them below and I’ll be glad to help out.
