"If you can't get a gig - make one yourself! Rent a hall, invite all your friends and charge them enough to cover expenses. That way you get a sympathetic audience, real gig experience and something to build on for the future."

This is truly a nice piece of advice. In the core this tip is telling: "You can do it, if you put your mind to it". Organizing gig can be difficult work, but it sure pays out in the end. Not always does the organized gets financial satisfaction, but the feeling of accomplishment is really big.

Very good tip. And of course you don't have to do something like this all alone, ask another band that you are friends with to join in and do it together, like this you share the work and both bands can bring in their own audience.
