So I save my projects regularly as I'm working. Spent all of today working on a piece, got to the final stage of mixing and mastering, loaded a plugin, the DAW blue screen crashes. Restart the computer, open the DAW...."This file is corrupt". ohmy.gif

A whole day's work lost, so from now on I will save to two files. dry.gif

DAWs have a reputation for blue screening although our main mastering daw is pretty stable (cross fingers) and hasn't crashed or locked up. Probably helps though that it's dedicated to mastering so doesn't have to cope with lots of apps running.

Anyway I always save takes along with the edl at various set points when mastering Rob. I end up with a set of takes for a finished master but I think it's safer and it also allows me to go back to an earlier point if I have to.

Yeah this can be so frustrating. And the golden rule is that it will only crash when there is loads of work done etc in order to make as much hustle as it can sad.gif Though you learned the lesson, I save projects very often especially after I have done some major changes...

Ack, I feel your pain - sorry! I'll be taking this advice for sure. Reminds me of my first computer science project I had worked on in computer lab in college - spent at least 8 hours finishing up a project, and lo-and-behold- power outtage. That was my first introduction to Cntrl-S after every line. A habit I have with me to this day. Now I'll be adding to that routine backing up song-files prior to mastering!
