If you play live, you may want to reconsider the way you write your songs after you watch this video. Has anybody here ever put into consideration the environment they would be performing in when they write songs?

We did not consider it during song writing but during song selection for what we would actually play. In smaller rooms, cafe' and the like we did acoustic versions or only used enough amp to get over noise, in halls we did more electric sets with more effects and things.

Great video Mud !! This is a really interesting point.

The bit about context remind me of a section in Zen Guitar where it talks about drawing a 'frame' around your music. Where will it fit in the great scheme of things ? Culturally ? Influentially ? Is it designed to sound at it's best on a good stereo or on an ipod etc ?

Thought provoking stuff.. thanks for finding these things smile.gif

Very interesting stuff indeed, who would look at it that way.. but it makes sense, we create stuff based on their function, way of use.. who is really creating something new? Or who is creating something new, but for current platforms or "venues".

I thought about this some time ago. Why not create a different type of stage? not always in the front. Maybe musicians dispersed around a venue as well as their sound source.
